Nate Kingz Appreciation Thread

I think Red wants to give JJ time to find his game, but it seems like moving Kingz to shooting guard would have several advantages. This would allow you to start Betsey at the 3, which would give us better shooting and rebounding. Not a perfect solution, but it could be a step in the right direction. Thoughts?

I mentioned same in another thread. Not sure how it works asvKiyan is going to get minutes and Red seems loyal to JJ.

I like Kingz at the 2 over JJ. However, you need Donnie back before you make that move. Betsey has proven to be one dimensional so far.

I’d like to see a lineup of George, Kingz, Donnie, Sadiq and Kyle. It’s our best offensive/defensive lineup and minimizes free throw shooting issues.

Every coach has their guy. He’s not going to diminish JJ’s role or minutes.

For example he should have kept Kiyan in the starting lineup when JJ came back because KA was playing out of his mind. But it’s back to JJ like clockwork.

Against Kansas, our shooters (everyone except for Kyle and White) were combined 9-38. Right now, I don’t think it matters much who starts, as much as can one of our shooters get hot? If so, play them, if not play who’s playing the best defense. JJ’s defense is worse than Kings and probably George but better than Anthony and Betsey.

He hasn't made many. It's surprising because he takes much better shots than his mates who just chuck.

i like that lineup. Won’t happen for starting but we should see serious minutes like that.

Bumping this thread. He was great tonight. His first half scoring kept us in the game and his defense throughout was fantastic. And I just noticed he had 6 rebounds. Fantastic game.

It isn't just about the points; he disrupted their entire offense. They couldn't do anything besides dump it down low because Kingz killed all their timing of their offense. He was very disruptive tonight

He’s such a stout defender. We’re lucky to have him. When he starts knocking down 3s consistently, he’s going to be very hard to guard. He needs to be aggressive and look to drive into the lane, and we need to run more plays to get him open (we run some off-ball screens for him but we need them to be more precise and effective), and the guys need to look to get him the ball as soon as he has any daylight.

True, and Sadiq and Kyle were taking care of business down there too. If the offense can knock down more shots, this team could have something.

This team reminds me a little of St. John’s last year. Very good defensively, but spotty three point shooting. I still believe we will continue to get better from three.

I think they will start falling through the net more often. That will be a tough team if they can do that and keep up that defensive intensity!

He was very aggressive going to the hoop last game. Very positive sign. He's going to heat up from the 3. I have a good feeling about that.

He didn’t touch the ball until 7 minutes left in the half and finished with 3 shot attempts. The fact he can’t see time at the 2 with the black holes we have in the backcourt is absurd.

Yes, it is… The way JJ played today there is no reason we shouldn’t have played Kingz at 2 and Betsey at the 3 down the stretch.
