Nathaniel Hackett

The HC job came down to Hackett and Shafer and the runner-up wasn't staying, and the winner was cleaning out most of the coaching staff. I know the timing was awful, but the coaches who followed Marrone to Buffalo weren't thrown in the back of an Impala by Anselmo and taken west on the thruway, they were all pursuing opportunities that entire season.
I always assumed that whomever Marrone didn't take to Buffalo would stay and get the head coaching job at Syracuse. Was it actually the opposite? I just thought Marrone preferred Hackett.

Hackett wanted the SU job. When Gross went with Shafer, that's when Hackett decided to go to Buffalo.

I know for a fact that Hackett and Shafer were both looking for HC jobs that season and had conversations with non-coaching staff members about leaving Syracuse if they got HC jobs.

Lol this is funny. Considering he never even made it to QB.

TCU, top 10 team, Heismen candidate at the position, multiple top 20 QB's recruited since then.

SU eh, not as much to overcome. Just because he couldn't displace they guys there doesn't mean he couldn't play here.

Ill give you that. But that does say more about us than him. LOL. Anyways. I believe even though it took a year Dungey is better than he was. Hopefully we keep recruiting QB's though.

because they knew Marrone was leaving or because they were just aspirational coordinators looking to get a full time gig at some point?

From what I heard, a mix of their aspirations and the reality that the staff might not have extensions

How about Brian Schottenheimer, you guys?!?!
we should hire him as qb coach because we need to have offensive coordinators in waiting. worked so well last year and this year

BANG!

Bowl or else, and by the way that open schedule slot, late season at Missouri, on top of USC neutral, NWestern, and at Minny.

Have a good day and we'll get back to you on the contract stuff.

What a 'up.

I am still worried what could happen to recruiting if Brian White leaves...

It was Chris White who was the RC, Brian hosted the keggers.

I heard Marrone wanted the TCU replacement to be another FCS team, but Doc needed the money so he took $1mil to go play at Missouri...and that's why he was so excited to greet Lemon in that end zone.

Why did we need the money? With Metlife game already bringing the greatest guarantee of alltime. More than Alabama-Michigan were paid by JerryWorld?

You mean Giansante wasn't telling the truth?

To pay the women's tennis coach, of course.

lol yeah I'm sure both Shafer and Hackett were fighting off HC offers with a stick. Delusional.

I never heard if either had a conversation with another school, but both were looking. Why is it delusional that an OC/DC would be looking at a HC job somewhere in college football?

Maybe a few mid-majors or FCS schools had Shafer on their intial list but there were no rumors at the time. I can't imagine Hackett even getting that much.

Giasante never said that pay day was for the one game if you're referring to $5m.

The fans in Georgia are killing him and he is getting beaten up bad right now in the press down there. Not sure he is the right hire right now with all of the negative press he is getting. Gonna make a guy your head coach after he has been fired or as he is about to gets fired from being an OC? That would be a tough sell.

Greg Olsen is the OC, Hackett is the QB coach, why would he be taking any shlit...

Shafer had 3x the resume as Hackett.
