Navy Can Run on ND

Thats no different than pointing out that we can pass on notre dame
Ahh...we couldn't do that either.

To not acknowledge that our OL can't run block (despite the grading that people always bring up) is whistling past the graveyard.

No one is denying that but using a triple option team as your evidence is dumb

It was mostly FB Dive that Navy was getting the big plays on. ND starting DT is out and the backups were pushing outside pressure to take away the wingback outside run. Navy did a good job of identifying and exploiting in the first half. It seems Marcus Freeman and Al Golden made the adjustment at halftime to have the DTs play downhill to blow up the A and B gap. Navy is not having much success in the second half.

Personnel and coaching matter. The OL at SU is not great, but the coaching scheme has also not set them up for success this season. I think Schmidt is being asked to run a blocking scheme that our personnel are not well suited for and he does not have as much experience coaching. The change in offense has been closer to an overhaul, but Schrader was good enough to limit the impact of how poorly suited our current personnel are to execute it. Injuries galore have not helped.

When you play teams like Clemson and ND those things get exposed very quickly.

Nothing bores me to tears more than triple option football. That said, I don’t care if we run 5 receiver sets, 3 tight ends, 4 quarterbacks. I’d just like to see a meaningful November win.
I think a team like Vandy who has basically no prayer of competing should use it, which is why the academies use it, but yeah it’s pretty dull while effective

When did I not acknowledge the run struggles? Everyone sees the issues with the offense. Its just a interesting way of expressing your frustration.

I close my eyes and envision McNabb…..
Our offense with McNabb was more a "pro-style" option attack with a sophisticated passing scheme built in.

Honestly, I don't know how Georgia Tech fans dealt with that Paul Johnson triple option for so many years. I know it can be effective but it's just SO boring. It's like basketball without a shot clock.

It’s good for teams that significantly struggle with recruiting. Like even at the first string level.

Vandy would go to a bowl game every year in the Coastal. The SEC would eat a triple option alive.

ND didn't show up for their easier games this year thats all there is to it they were the top 5/10 preseason team they were hyped as against everyone good even @ Ohio State despite losing their QB.

Once again they went through the ACC like a roll of toilet paper despite playing the 3 best ACC teams UNC on the road us on the road and Clemson. They are crazy for not wanting to join this league they would NEVER miss the playoffs if they did and probably would come away with a National Championship at some point.

Didn't we run it one year (2015?) and it wasn't effective?

Soooo, they're able to do against ND the one thing they do well. That's nice... I guess.
But why is it that Navy could do the thing they do well, and we couldn't?

Two reasons. Our most important player wasn't physically able to do what he needs to for us to do what we want. And Navy has an unorthodox style that Notre Dame has only prepped one week for. A better question may be, why can't Navy beat Delaware when they gave Notre Dame trouble?
