NBA 2018-2019

I think the best person to defend Lebron in the 90's would have been Pippen.

Early Rodman is another good one, but I think Pippen is the answer.

But the size comparison to Malone really just underscores how impossible it is to defend Lebron; Malone was renowned for being like super jacked and a physical beast, how do you guard that guy when he has the quickness and vision that Lebron does (did?)

As a Knicks fan, I'll throw out Anthony Mason. Underrated defender. Still wouldn't have a chance, don't get me wrong

Starting a game that is being played in an east coast city at 9PM which means a 9:20PM tip really grinds my gears.

Kersey would also count for 90 and 92. Nice player back in those days too.
I left out the Celtics players from 08 and 09 as well but your right Kersey was a player with those Blazers teams.

Once Bron’s jumper got more consistent and good enough where just laying off him might not work, and once he added a low post game(which took too long IMO, but he did it), it was game over for stopping him. You just accept that he’s going to go apesh$t whenever needed and hope his shooters are missing and that your team can outscore them.

Those 90’s teams weren’t going to be white knuckling out brick fest W’s by shutting down Bron. And these 225 pound physical guys wouldn’t be knocking him around for anything more than giving him a lot of FT’s.

Wait, you came up with that whole list? Good God, that’s encyclopedia type stuff. I thought you were just sharing info, lol.

It’s an incredible streak that 36 of the 73 NBA Finals have had a teammate of Shaq or himself.
Danny Green was on a couple Spurs teams that made it to the Finals too

Would be fun to see Mase try - he definitely would have drawn the assignment.

I referenced this stat weeks ago and then I put the list I did together on memory I know I must have missed more than I did but just went off memory.
Like now I know I forgot Derek Fisher with Kobe. There must have been other guys on Lakers I missed on those 2008-2010 teams.

Good call. And he certainly would’ve tried HARD. Heck of a player at his best. One of the few guys from any era who might’ve had the right combo of physical characteristics, defensive aptitude, and intensity to possibly give him trouble.

Not sure he was quite quick enough but maybe, especially if Bron had a poor shooting day and he could give him a step.

Yeah. AC Green would qualify for 87, 88, 89, and 91 too as he played with Shaq in 2000.

Speaking of “wait, he played for them?” guys...Ok, I will begrudgingly admit that Drake with the Dell Curry Toronto Raptors Jersey is some top notch trolling.

Lol, props to whoever figured that out. Jeez.

I can’t say I would’ve remember Greg Kite (mostly because I haven’t thought of Greg Kite in at least 25 years) or Danny Green as teammates of Shaq’s.

Also would never have thought of Jerome Kersey as being on the ‘99 Spurs. Remember him as a Laker in Shaq’s first year with the team though. He was almost washed then, didn’t realize he was still around a couple years later.
I had tons of Greg Kite basketball cards for some reason.

It kinda sucked.

Hilarious, because I almost posted earlier that I remembered him primarily because I always seemed to get his basketball card in every pack.

You posting that now makes me think something was up?

Raptors are just chucking up 3’s every possession.

They are good looks though and at least they are not playing hot potato. But they will need to run some other offence.

Kawhi seems to let his teammates get it going early first.

Yeah I dont see him having the quickness, but Mase was real underrated. I think he's kind of like a mid 90s version of Draymond really. When Nelson took over the Knicks I remember he wanted to run the offense through him a lot

Definitely.

He had a heck of a year one of his years in Charlotte too, where he had a ton of assists for a forward.
