Scott Shafer opens his weekly teleconference by saying Syracuse will update QB Eric Dungey's status on the team's Thursday injury report.

Shafer reiterates that DEs Qaadir Sheppard and Amir Ealey are suspended indefinitely for violating team rules. Declines to specify timeline.

Shafer admits he made a mistake on his 15-yard penalty vs. Clemson. Didn't apologize to team because he wouldn't expect apologies from them.

Shafer said he has not spoken with NCSU WRs coach George McDonald since he left this winter. McDonald was fired as SU OC midway thru 2014.

Shafer declines to talk about any potential talks with AD Mark Coyle. Said that those conversations should stay behind closed doors.

Scott Shafer alludes that Kenterius Womack might be a backup quarterback for N.C. State. Didn't say he wasn't when asked. Wild.

Scott Shafer is very upset with the person that "leaked" information regarding Qaadir Sheppard and Amir Ealey's suspension.

Shafer says Kenterius Womack is 1 of his 3 qb's ready to play NC State. No official word on Dungey till tonight but perhaps a hint.

Shafer asked about Dungey's status and again he defers to official ACC injury report which will come out tonight

Shafer, smiling, on Mahoney: "That's all he does is go against the best, that's who he is."

Shafer: "We've been blessed with some very good young talent."

Shafer sticks to "same approach" mentality when asked about 5-7 bowl possibility. "I know it's not a sexy answer."

Shafer calls source who revealed news on Sheppard and Ealey cowardly. Reiterates team's policy is "right and good."

didn't bennett and arcineaga get injured by running into each other? missing two games now?
