NCAA 2nd Round Games for Sunday March 21

Loyola is really well coached. They’re going to win today.

fundamentally sound, passing guys open. And Kofi is an absolute load. This is fun to watch.

Agreed
the quad system distorts the rankings.

I realize there may not be many better ideas (i prefer how it used to be with plain rpi)

but the quality of opponents is not equal...so how could the quality of wins ever hope to be??

some teams dont get much of a chance for quad 1 wins *cough cough loyola*...and teams change a lot over the course of a season, too...yet the out of conference games are largely what determines strength of conference and set the stage for the quads in the first place...faulty foundation from jump.

another angle on this is that there are something like 12 teams still in the tourney with as many or more losses than SU but somehow they were one of the last teams in...?

these ranking dont mean a lot in most cases.

Raf openly pulling for the Illini.
Close game vs Mizzou and Okie State had their hands full as well so it could have gone differently to be fair too. Kansas had to come back vs EWU too.

Obviously they did their job to survive and advance but they weren't dominant in any way. That is why I think second round will be more telling.

Both Oklahoma and OK State covered. As did Texas Tech and West Virginia. Baylor and KU just missed covering. Texas the only one that fell on their face.

I look more for watching the game vs betting line performance. As I said I think round 2 will tell more about the B12 than round 1 given so many high seeds. They were the higher seed in every matchup.

I like to do both. But consistent covering is a pretty good example of dominance.

I hear you but most of them only covered late which speaks to the games. They were up against the BIG given both had the best seeds in addition to pct of teams in. Now comes the real test. From what I am seeing with IL- it's possible the BIG will be the disappointment. ACC is obviously on life support between us and FSU.

Being up double digits with 10 left while Krutwig is sub 50% from the field with a couple turnovers is nuts

That's fair. A lot of wood left to chop. I'm just saying so far the Big 12 has looked pretty sharp. Short of SU or FSU winning the natty, redemption for the ACC looks unlikely. Not that any of us are surprised by that. Just a down year for the league. It happens.

Dosunmu is good but he is an athlete first still. He is predictable but often still finishes because of his athleticism. Lot of work to develop as a half court player though. He hasn't shown Loyola anything different so far and is making himself too easy to defend.
