NCAA Final Four Games Thread for Sat Apr 4

I've never seen a team get more breaks than pukeconn
Everyone needs to stop saying that UCONN is lucky. Every team gets breaks. Its up to the team to take advantage of them, and UCONN does it better than anyone else.

They are truly an elite program and obviously a step above us, historically and present day. There's literally no debate. I hope we get back to that level one day

On paper, Michigan should beat UConn 4 out 5 times they play, most of those games convincingly. However, I expect Monday to be the game Michigan plays poorly and UConn plays their best game of the year. The Huskies have made a long term deal with the devil to sell their soul for the ability to win championships.

I tend to agree but this Michigan team is a freight train. They’re like the Mon-stars in Space Jam.

Outside of Hurley I would have May as the second best coach in college basketball right now.
Golden fits in here as well. I would say top 3 coaches in basketball. Hurley #1. 2 and 3 are a toss up.

Be interesting to see what happens to UConn when Murray leaves. They didn’t click until he got there and fixed/righted their offense. Hurley is a high intensity, get your going playing hard and to the whistle coach. Hangs his coaching on defense. But before Murray got there their offense wasn’t good enough. Murray is the one that brought it all together.

But this Final four and to an extension the elite 8 was a prime example of why coaching is so valuable and why I wanted Schertz ahead of Gerry. Hurley’s roster is not as good as Illinois or dukes, but he coached clinics around both.

Lloyd is a great recruiter and has a decent system. But totally outclassed by May. I always thought Arizona was overrated all year. They were a great team, but couldn’t believe the experts thought they were the best team in America. Michigan since the beginning of the year has been a freight train and overwhelmed teams. Still can’t believe people thought Arizona was the better team. Even if talent was similar, May is 2-3 times the coach of Lloyd.

Michigan has size and can shoot. They essentially were missing their best player last night and were up 28 at one point. Arizona had no perimeter shooting to be a threat to Michigan.

Illinois scored under 60 2 times all year. Best offense in college basketball. The 2 games, both against UConn. I mean I get it, UConn buys in and plays tough defense, but that’s coaching. You couldn’t make any adjustments from your first matchup?

UCONN will struggle unless Reed can score inside. That won’t be easy with Michigan’s size. Michigan’s over whelming size will also cause UCONN problems. UCONN seems to have 5-7 minute scoring droughts in every game. If they don’t knock down a bunch of threes it will be hard for them to win. It should be an interesting chess match to see which team can do what they like to do.

Michigan is huge and looks like the best team. If UConn gets them without Lendeborg though that will legitimately be hilarious.
More of the insane UConn luck with Yaxel getting hurt. Even if they did have two dominant teams during that time, it’s still highly unlikely any one team would win this many titles (four) in a 15 year period, with all the randomness and upsets of March. Look at Michigan. They’ve actually played in more title games (8) in their history, including 3 since 2013, but only have one title.
