Only 4 teams in the last 8 years have had a higher RPI than we have right now. And that includes NCAA tournament results which clearly are a major boost for teams that advance far in the tourney.

Memphis/Purdue winner 2nd round . . . Go Tigers! Purdue is one of the worst possible 2nd round matchups, IMO. They are very disciplined with the ball, very efficient on offense, and they have multiple 3 point shooters.

Get past that and you have a serious dark horse in an underseeded Wichita State lurking in the Sweet 16.

forget the gaudy won-loss record, the conference championship, the #1 seed - it will be a genuine accomplishment just surviving those games.

Call.me crazy but i think iona could beat both of those teams.

Taking thd butler game out of the equation you always want a non bcs school to play in the later rounds. Bring on wsu. I would rather see them as opposed to a florida state or a wisconsin.

And purdue is so mediocre. We would beat that team by 15 points. Hummel is a shell of what he was and they just dont score enough points.

Wow I didn't realize that, pretty cool stat.
 
Duke is the 2 seed I don't want because of their style of play. Michigan State, North Carolina, and Kansas are all better teams but I believe would be better matchups for us in Boston. Duke will shoot like 30 3's against us, and the Plumlee's will get offensive rebounds and I don't want Duke's ball pressure against Scoop. I honestly want Duke to get the 1 seed out West and give us any other 2 seed. Also, no chance Indiana is a 3 seed right now my goodness they will be lucky to get a 4 seed right now.

Duke's perimeter defense is nowhere what it has been in the past. I think our guards beat theirs off the dribble all night. Now, how many "charges" will the Blue Floppers get on our penetration?
 
I would love to play Memphis. Talented team, but they're not a smart team...to put it lightly. They might pack their bags and head home early after playing our zone for about 30 minutes.

I would sign up for this any day of the week. I love Duke as our #2. With our rebounding issues, does anyone want any part of North Carolina, Kansas or Michigan State?
 
I will tell you one team that is on fire right now that I want no part of. The New Mexico Lobos. Spanking UNLV today and spanked SDST the other night. Alford had done a great job this year.

New Mexico are frauds and will lose in the 2nd round most likely just as they did 2 years ago when they were a 3 seed and lost to 11 seeded bubble team Washington. They are tough in the PIT and got a good win @SD State this week, but they haven't beaten anyone else on the road. They will be my 5-12 upset in the tournament whomever New Mexico gets. New Mexico won't scare me in Boston the arena would be filled with 5 times as much Orange as Lobo fans.
 
I agree on the lobos. My wife is an alum so we watch their games when we can. It really makes you appreciate our coach. They are completely undisciplined and will sometimes go 6 or 7 possessions in a row of the ball never getting inside the 3pt line. They will fold up like a cheap suit in the tourney if history is any guide (this is a historically solid program but never been to the sweet 16).

Also I can't stand Alford. In one game they cut to him on the bench and literally caught him popping pills. We thought nose picking was bad? On his coaches show he just slouches down in a chair looking like a punk frat boy and hardly interacting with the host at all.

Saw a story on that. He has a gland condition, where he has to take a littany of pills and supplements. I guess he could ask the cameras not to show it...but probably not one of the many reasons to hate him :-)
