NCAA Proposal Says Transfers Will Be Granted Immediate Eligibility Starting Aug 2021

I think this is good for the student-athletes, so I don't really care how it is for the athletic departments.
The factories that go 3 or 4 deep, will lose the depth they now have. This should help even out the chances for upsets.

It makes so much sense it will probably get nixed after a while.

But sign me up for the Michigan 2nd stringers and the Western Michigan star.

The other thing is does is that it takes some of the heat off of that first decision as a 17 year old. So many kids get stuck at places they thought they'd like and want to leave and not for football reasons.

there will be a solid number of big school players looking to move as they get recruited over.. the bigger issue is kids not really making decisions until may.. then it will be a mad scramble for some schools.

Great point, this could really turn into a fluid and dynamic situation, bordering on chaotic;)

Can Newman transfer here? If he isn't going to start and eligibility for this season does not count, would it be possible to grab him? He is used to the ACC and a fast paced O.
I saw one article that had him as the third ranked QB prospect in the draft.

Yup there will be a lot more higher end talent stuck behind 5 stars on Blue Bloods moving down stream to get playing time than their will be high end talent moving upstream looking for more “exposure”

The Jamie Newman’s of the world will be exponentially less than the Triston Jackson’s of the world

If your an entrenched starter at ANY P5 school (by default will be on TV and playing against top talent) putting up stats, you risk a ton by making a gamble that you will get a similar amount of PT on a blue blood. Also the blue blood teams team focusing on you is an additional risk (same snaps less focus) This comes with an upside that is only potentially marginally more beneficial (and that potential benefit is totally dependent on the new, much more talented, team will provide you the same number of snaps and similar focus of the scheme (targets, carries etc) to highlight your talents)
But what it may do is ensure the blue bloods get the elites. If an under recruited guy proves that he should have been considered elite, they can snatch him up. Meanwhile, we can get their scraps that just got recruited over. Now, if their scraps are better than what we have, that will improve us, but it may minimize the benefit of really good scouting for the recruiters that are good at finding the hidden gems.

Overall, it will probably help the lower level teams while minimally reducing depth on the elites.
