- The NCAA rules committee has recommended three changes this season.
(1) No leaping over the offensive line on kick attempts
(2) Knee pads required and pants that cover knees
(3) Including the nameplate in the current horse-collar tackle rule.
Currently, leaping over the line is allowed if you don’t land on a player, and pants that reach the knees are only recommended
They must still be approved by the Playing Rules Oversight Panel on April 19.
“Our committee’s most significant charge is to enhance the health and safety of our student-athletes when possible,” South Dakota head coach and committee chair Bob Nielson said in a release. “Each of these rules changes address areas that help us accomplish this goal.”
