NCAA rule change proposals

I think I like only 2 rules on there.

-The double bonus at 5 fouls for each 10 minute increment.
-held ball goes to defense

there is already a fouling issue in the NCAA. Unless they will start calling freedom of movement, players will only foul more with 6 fouls to give. And teams should be able to use any timeouts they have at any point. That should not be restricted. Last but not least, I don’t understand the offensive basket interference rule. I understand it is a fiba rule. But the offensive player can attack a ball on the rim but the defense is helpless. It makes it impossible to guard.

Anyone remember when the Big East implemented the 6 foul rule back in the old days? It was awful. Leads to more fouling and rougher more physical defense with more grabbing, pushing, etc. So much for free flowing offense. This is completely stupid. Typical NCAA morons.

yeah the charging thing has been bad for the sport, imo. players are now manuevering against each other without intent to score or defend actual baskets being scored but to collide with other in advantageous ways...not interesting to watch at all and not the point of the sport, really.

fouling issue is huge...we saw a bunch of teams that went farthest in ncaa this year mauling opponents as a way of life...needs to stop.

some of these rule changes are pretty bad though...hope they dont happen. for instance, why get rid of the 10 second rule? should reward defense for preventing advancement into frontcourt.

and the idea of refusing foul shots for possession seems the team with the bal could conceivably hold the ball for the last 2 minutes and just keep possession the whole time...am i missing something there?

removing shots also means teams have a reason to be even more aggressive.. if a team just keeps taking it out eventually they will screw it up getting it in.

go back to the old TO rule.. no TO on dead balls or make they all 30 sec ones. and fball should do the same. no more back to back TOs.

how about actually calling held balls correctly.. end the jump on top of someone and ignore the foul dstuff

Hopefully most of these never make it through.

I just wish they could make the block charge call so that a charge is leading into the defender with your shoulder while defender is vertical, disbar/push off, hooking or an elbow. A block is inside the arc. Every thing else is either a trip, reach in, foul on the shot or flat out no call if there is face up contact. If an offensive player wants to ram into a defensive player or a defensive player wants to stand in the way while the offensive player does this and they cancel each other out with bodies on the floor then so be it. Watch how quickly players adjust to stop flailing or flopping.

On the whole, these are awful. Eliminating the 1 & 1 may be the only 1 I like, and even that, I'm not sold on. Declining free throws to me is just absurd. And yes, let's let players travel even more with the new 2 step pivot rule. No thank you.

This reminds of those people at work who have to justify their hefty salary by showing that they are being "forward thinking" and really coming up with new "bright" ideas. Waste of time & energy.

If I read this right, Sidibe is screwed right?

I don't think so. 4 fouls is a lot in a half. Granted it will happen more if they make this change but who knows. If his mobility isn't there he won't play much anyways.

In the long run Game needs to be closer in all aspects not more complex. Defense turnovers and rebounds would be worth more if hard-earned 2 point baskets were rewarded 2 1/2 points to be closer to 3 pointers. Maybe make and ones worth half a point. 6 fouls would not be fair to the bench. Would like to see charges by drivers not ruled as fouls only obvious shoulder dips/fore arm push offs. Instead of electing not to shoot under 2 minutes how bout no one and ones.
The Game is becoming more science-less creative. Too many do this first do this second do this third rather than just do this together if that makes sense.

I've always hated how the possession arrow works relating to the opening tip. If you win the tip, the other team starts with the arrow. I would rather see the team winning the tip also get the arrow. Extra incentive, and a true reward for winning the tip

For fun, would love to see some obscure conference (or maybe division 3) implement the ELAM ending. It would actually help most in the NBA, when the last 2 minutes can last an eternity.

Was hoping they would address too many timeouts in a televised game. Hate when coaches call a timeout and then the next whistle they take a TV timeout for being under the 4 minute mark for example.
I thought they already tweaked that rule in some way so that a TO called near the break counted as the break?

I have my own, how about eliminate or at least adjust, the kick ball rule. This has got to be one of the most bizarre rules in sports. Play stops, you retain possession and they reset the shot clock because you throw a bad pass at the defenders feet. And most of the time there is no kick involved it just deflects off a foot or a leg. I say either call it correctly when there is actually a kick, or just eliminate it completely. Would defenders really be trying to make kick saves on bounce passes if they got rid of this rule?
