NCAA Selection Committee meeting now to tweak the tournament

I have been to the following NCAA tourney games:

2003 win vs oklahoma
2005 loss vs vermont
2010 win vs. vermont
2010 win vs Gonzaga
2012 win vs kansas state
2012 win vs wisconsin
2012 loss vs ohio state
2013 loss vs michigan

there is absolutely nothing like going to an ncaa tourney game, nothing like it!!!

They should follow the natural S-Curve just so its fair in the seeding. SU was the 16 seed last year on the S-Curve and ended in the bracket with the 3rd overall seed Indiana, 5th overall seed Miami and the 12th overall seed Marquette. I get they want to protect geography but just follow the natural S-Curve and avoid situations where the 6th overall seed Duke has to play the number 1 overall seed in the Elite Eight instead of giving the brackets more balance.

Well, SU's overall draw was pretty close. As the 16, they should have been bracketed with 1, 8, and 9. That's a total of 18. They got 3, 5, 12 = 20.

NCAA: Committee changes bracketing guidelines for Division I tournament

One of the changes addresses how soon teams from the same conference can play each other in the tournament, which will be based on the frequency with which they met during the regular season and postseason conference tournament.

This means that teams from the same conference that played only once during the season can now face each other as early as the third round of the championship. Subsequently, teams from the same league that met twice during the year will not potentially play each other until the regional semifinals. Also, teams from the same league that played each other three times during the course of the season cannot play until the regional championship game.

@CasualHoya: NCAA releases new guidelines. Our petition to have single digit seeds avoid playing double digit seeds was ignored.

Meaning SU would have been matched vs. Ville in the Sweet 16 in the Midwest instead of IU in the East. I'd call that a significant change that likely would have meant no Final Four. It's going to suck getting matched up with conference mates in early rounds. Just wait and see.

That is significant.

But I don't think the committee will slavishly follow the 1 through 16 without exception. Moving one or two teams one seed up or down would not be outrageous. And, as SU and LVille had just played a league tournament final 48 hours earlier, not to mention that the two teams had already played 3 times, the committee might have made an accommodation.
