NCAA Sweet 16 Games for Sunday March 28

Alabama reminded me of some of the Syracuse teams of the 80's. Great athletes. End up in OT after missing 12 free throws. Brings back memories of some painful losses.

That's exactly what came to mind for me unfortunately. Free throws killed some great SU teams in those days.

Man, Alabama shoots even 50% from the line they win in regulation. How do you go 11-25, 44% on 25 attempts in regulation!!! I’d be sick!!!!!

I noted that I went down a few spots in the Syracusefan bracket rankings after the UCLA/Alabama game, which means that about 3 or 4 people picked "Michigan St / UCLA" to make the elite 8 out as the 11 seed play in.

I imagine all of those individuals were making that pick thinking it would be Michigan St that was going to be the team advancing to the Elite 8... not UCLA.

If USC holds on tonight I think I might enjoy watching Evan Mobley eating Drew Timme's lunch.

Kansas-like.
I knew they missed some free throws that night. I would have NEVER remembered they shot12/30 for 40%!!!! Absolutely stunning. And I watch that game almost once a year and I don’t remember it being that bad.

They did get some karma a couple years later when Memphis missed 4 of last 5 free throws and blew a 9 point lead with 2 mins left against chalmers.

The further most east team in the elite 8 will be Michigan. Horrific season for eastern/east coast basketball.
Good point. And Michigan is the least Big 10 team of the 12 teams in the Big Ten. They play the beautiful game as opposed to Big 10 basketball which is all about Woody Hayes and 3 yards and a pile of dust. I'm okay with PAC 12 basketball becoming the new model of the game. Offense, movement, speed. I'll watch that.

I can relate.

I don't think the final 8 is ready for the biodiversity of both ducks and beavers. USC sharpie.

Yes. Cronin was a great hire for UCLA as long as he can stay healthy.

I liked his Cincy teams, and it was great since they never gave us too much trouble but they were good enough to pad the resume.

Kansas-like.
I missed the meaning of this initially because I've always focused on how poorly SU has shot from the line, but, yes, how fortunate SU was that Kansas shot their free throws so poorly.

3 Pac 12 teams in the final 8. I'll be surprised if one of them gets to the Final Four.

Let's worry about JB's replacement. Seems like that might be rather topical a year from now.

I'd say at least 2. Both his kids have 2 years of eligibility left.
