I do not want to post the tweet, but someone over at one of the recruiting sites tweeted that the NCAA was acting as parents at IMG Academy practice yesterday and busted five college coaches for the so called "bump rule" It was a tweet, so I guess the info is fair game. The tweet itself did contain a link which I definitely did not want to post. Admins, delete if necessary.

I was just wondering how often this goes on and nobody hears about it.

Also, so what happens to the five that got hit yesterday?

What is the 'bump rule'?

Illegal contact between a college coach and a prospective student-athlete. This contact may happen outside of the authorized "contact period" mandated by the NCAA. A bump is supposed to be reported to the NCAA although it is considered a minor infraction.

Ah, I knew that was a rule, I just never heard it called that before. Thanks.

If it is a minor infraction then why go to so much trouble to trap a school for that? Sounds like quite a fishing expedition.

You'd think they would be more concerned about contact between parents and agents at IMG Academy, but this is the NCAA we are talking about.

They must've thought that JAB was going to be there.
