Nebraska Cancels Spring Game To Discourage 'Player Poachers'

I’ve never understood the love for the spring game. People here seem to love it. My life is very much not changed by it happening or not.
It's a football addiction, 12 months out of the year would be ideal for us addicts.

Since we only get the fall, a snippet of collision in the spring holds us over, especially when we have had as rough of a hoops season as we have experienced this winter.

Years ago when we knew so little about so many of the kids it was a cool thing to go see and learn.

Now as the information about many of them is out there, to actually see film and discuss its far less interesting to me.

If they have to move the spring game to the soccer stadium, they should just cancel it. You’re coming off your best season in years and this is the site you want recruits to visit?

Well, at least there should be a full capacity "stadium" of people.

You think they won’t see the Domenon their visit unless they scrimmage there?

I only went a couple times back in the day. I enjoyed it because it was a first look at young highly anticipated players and a way to get close to the team. Back when you could go down on the field and get autographs afterward, I got a football signed by a bunch of guys including Dwight Freeney and Walter Reyes.

Hmmm, interesting. Could this become a trend?:

""The word 'tampering' doesn't exist anymore," Rhule said Saturday at his midwinter news conference. "It's just an absolute free open common market. I don't necessarily want to open up to the outside world and have people watch our guys and say, 'He looks like a pretty good player. Let's go get him.'"

The spring game has a long tradition at Nebraska. Last year the event drew 60,452 to Memorial Stadium, fourth-highest in the nation behind spring games at Ohio State, Alabama and Penn State. The Cornhuskers' game also was televised on the Big Ten Network.

"I dealt with a lot of people offering our players a lot of opportunities after that," Rhule said. "So you go out and bring in a bunch of new players and showcase them for all the other schools to watch? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me."

Six Nebraska players entered the transfer portal the week after last year's spring game."
Sad this is even a problem now. Some schools I feel are paid to be a practice team for big schools. I have no proof it's just an opinion.
