Nerlens Noel Discusses Syracuse Visit

Honestly, who cares who starts if he comes???

Christmas starts now and he gets 2 minutes a game.

Let the cream rise to the top.

If Noel comes, we'd have Fair, Christmas, Noel and Coleman on the front line (assuming Melo is gone, which I can't imagine he won't be). Add in Southerland and Grant, and you have the deepest frontcourt in college basketball.

Add to that Triche, MCW and Cooney and that's a pretty good top 9. And if Waiters stays (which, IMO, he should no matter what people think of his game), we'd be preseason top 5 again.

It's a good time to be a Syracuse basketball fan.

Sure is a great time. We get Noel and Waiters comes back we might be better next year.

I agree on Waiters. He should come back. His stock has at least plateaued.

You have to love the decisions SU would be making lol... IF our star C leaves early which McD AA sits so two others can start lol. There are worse problems to have. Really though, orangefog is right. If Melo goes there are plenty of minutes for Rak, Noel, and Coleman to be as versitile and dominant frontcourt as there has been at SU in a long time. I'm also starting to think Waiters could stay another year. His play has tailed off a bit. Not so much that he wouldn't get drafted. But staying and starting on a NC caliber team could move him to a top 5 pick and make him a TON of money over leaving this year.

All I know from watching film of Noel is that he has to play the middle of the 2-3 zone. He may turn out to be one of the greatest shot blockers in NCAA history, even if it is for one year.

I'm not sure how it works our with who starts where but if we get Nole the biggest thing that happens is Baye plays very little IMO. Noel, Coleman and Christmas eat up almost all the 4/5 minutes between them would be my guess.

if noel comes and fab goes, the starting frontcourt will be Fair, Noel, Xmass. It would be insulting not to start Christmas unless both Noel comes and Fab stays

Agreed... I think at least to start the season. And FYI... Deadwood, best show ever. :)

Hmmmm... with that thought in mind than it was insulting not starting Scoop 2 years ago when he got the 6th man award ... it was insulting to sit KJo behind Wes when he also received a 6th man award. On SU being the 6th man has become quite a reward and almost honor in itself ... Scoop, KJo, Waiters ... all who played as many minutes (if not more ala Dion) than the starters. There will be so much rotation between the 4/5 that the 3 will certainly earn mega minutes pt... especially if DC2 comes in heavy and out of condition which I don't see with Noel and Rak. DC2 & Noel start with Rak being the 6th man off the bench.

The bottom line: Coleman didn't sign with Syracuse to come off the bench. That has nothing to do with learning curves or expecting him to dominate. The only way DC doesn't start is if Melo returns, which is not likely. Noel starts at the 4 no matter what happens.

This is my understanding based on what our trustworthy posters here have stated.

If Fab stays and Noel comes (I understand this is a low probability), then I see DC backing up Fab at center. He will still get 15+ minutes.

Coleman, Noel and XMas all start: The Triple Towers. Of course, we would have very little outside shooting with Triche and Cooney. That is until Dirty and CJ come in to spell Coleman and XMas three minutes into the first half.
