I’ve added so many things to my post-game “Net Points” posts over the years that it’s become a very long post to read and a longer one to do. I’ve decided to have separate posts for the numbers for a particular game and for the cumulative season totals. It’s the later that takes most of the time and lengthens the post so much. There was too much verbiage and too many numbers.
I’m still going to figure the season totals but I’ll post them at three different stages of the season: after the pre-conference schedule, after the conference schedule and after the post season. In the meantime, I’ll go with this stream-lined version of “Net Points, etc.” after each game, with numbers and commentary only for that game. That should make it both quicker to do and more digestible.

Fouls

We attempted 41 two point shots, scored 34 points in the paint, attempted 29 free throws and were fouled 24 times = 1.71; 1.42; 1.21
They attempted 35 two point shots, scored 26 points in the paint, attempted 13 free throws and were fouled 13 times = 2.69; 1.23; 1.00
We were more likely to draw a foul on two point shots and in the paint and got more free throws out of it.
Comments:
- This was the first time Oshae was the O-Dog and led in scoring efficiency. Tyus led in the first 7 times and the second 8 times, but never Oshae before tonight.
- This was the first time we lost the rebound battle, (the way I figure it) and failed to win “manufactured possessions”.
- We had 27 points in 23 unsettled situations = 1.174 points. They had 24 points in 31 unsettled situations = 0.774 points. In a close game a better response to unsettled situations can make a significant difference.
- In the first 9 games the fact that we couldn’t make threes and couldn’t stop them was the team’s biggest problem. In the last two games we are 15 for 34 (44.1%) and the bad guys are 12 for 51 ((23.5%)
- This team is not as good an offensive team as last year’s but we are scoring 74.3ppg and we can make it tough for the other teams to reach 75. We were averaging 77.9 at this point last year. We are just 4 points short of that. And we’d lost 4 games by this point last year.
