I’ve added so many things to my post-game “Net Points” posts over the years that it’s become a very long post to read and a longer one to do. I’ve decided to have separate posts for the numbers for a particular game and for the cumulative season totals. It’s the later that takes most of the time and lengthens the post so much. There was too much verbiage and too many numbers. I’m still going to figure the season totals but I’ll post them at three different stages of the season: after the pre-conference schedule, after the conference schedule and after the post season. In the meantime, I’ll go with this stream-lined version of “Net Points, etc.” after each game, with numbers and commentary only for that game. That should make it both quicker to do and more digestible. Net Points (points + rebounds + assists + steals + blocks minus missed field goals and free throws, turnovers and personal fouls) Tyler Lydon 35 in 36 minutes John Gillon 5 in 37 minutes Andrew White 5 in 40 minutes Taurean Thompson 2 in 27 minutes Tyler Roberson 1 in 6 minutes Tyus Battle -1 in 12 minutes Franklin Howard -1 in 28 minutes DaJuan Coleman -3 in 14 minutes Paschal Chukwu injured Awards Offensive Dude of the Game, (O-Dog) (Points plus assists) Tyler Lydon 31 Individual Offensive Efficiency (Points minus field goal and free throw attempts) Tyler Lydon 25 Sat Us Down (Who scored the first SU basket of each half) 1st Half- Andrew White with a trey at 19:24 2nd Half- Tyler Lydon with a lay-up at 19:24 TACO Bell MVP (Who scored the point that got us to 70, which gets you free tacos with your ticket stub) John Gillon with a lay-up at 0:05 My Man (Who played the most minutes?) Andrew White 40 Team Stats: POSSESSION Rebounding (Add each team’s offensive rebounds to their opponent’s defensive rebounds. In those games we’ve rebounded 25%, 21%, 27%, 29%, 26% and 29% of our misses. We rebounded 44% in the first four games. - I keep track of points per offensive rebounds and points per turnover to see how the teams are doing in unsettled situations. In this game it was inconclusive: we scored 17 points after 12 offensive rebounds but only 13 points off of 19 turnovers. They scored only 8 points form 12 o-rebs and 10 points from 13 turnovers. - We had our lowest POP of the season with 21. Georgetown didn’t have a lot, either with 26. But look at this: in our most impressive win of the season, the 21 point win over Monmouth, we had 41POP to 12 for them. We aren’t great inside and we don’t’ run any more so we need a gap between our performance and the other teams from outside to get good results. - For the first time all season we didn’t score form the Twilight Zone. We’d been averaging 10 points a game from there. Georgetown got 8 – and won by 7. - Both teams had 25 field goals and we had one more three pointer, so it’s obvious the game was lost from the line. - We went from assisting on 80% of our field goals vs. Boston U. to 40% in this game because we were so determined to drive to the basket to score. We went from 42 points from the arc and 14 from the TZ to 21 and zero.
