We rebounded 19 of our 44 misses = 43.2%
They rebounded 11 of their 33 misses = 33.3%

Effective Offensive Rebounding

We got 17 points on 19 O-Rebs = 0.89 points
They got 10 points on 11 O-Rebs = 0.91 points

Turnovers
(Total turnovers – the other team’s steals = unforced turnovers)
We had 13 turnovers – 7 steals = 6 unforced
They had 15 turnovers – 7 steals = 8 unforced

Points per Takeaway
(Points off turnovers divided by the number of turnovers the other team had)
We had 11 points from 15 takeaways = 0.73 points
They had 17 points from 13 takeaways = 1.31 points

Unsettled Situations
(Effective offensive rebounding + Points per Takeaway: [Second Chance Point + Points off Turnovers] divided by [Offensive Rebounds + Opposition Turnovers)
We had 28 points in 34 unsettled situations = 0.82
They had 27 points in 24 unsettled situations = 1.13

Comments:

- Tyler Lydon has now played every minute of the east 9 games

- Now that Taurean Thompson has led the team in net points for a game, the only one of the seven players we are now using that hasn’t done so is….Tyus Battle! Frank Howard led against Colgate and North Florida. Tyler Roberson led against Pittsburgh (1) and Virginia Tech.

- It was the third straight game that we broke the season record for the longest time in a half to “sit us down”: 3 minutes and 58 seconds in the second half at Pittsburgh; 4 minutes 27 seconds in the first half vs. Louisville and now 5 minutes and 34 seconds in the second half vs. Georgia Tech. We lost all three games. This is supposed to be a good offensive team with problems on defense.

- It was the 7th straight game we have failed behind by double figures. Amazingly, we came back to win four of them, two on the road. But now we’ve lost three in a row. The best comebacks are the ones you don’t have to make.

- We out-rebounded the Yellow Jackets, only the fifth ACC team we’ve won the battle of boards against. Our 19 offensive rebounds were our third highest total of the season, behind the 20 we had in the first Boston College game and the 21 we had against St. John’s. of course, we lost all three games, so our apparently facility on the offensive boards would seem to be due to the sheer number of misses we had, many of them coming after an offensive rebound.

- This was only the fourth ACC game in which we had the fewest unforced turnovers.

- We got 11 points from their 15 turnovers. They got 17 points from our 13 turnovers. they won by six. A key point was when Tyler Lydon stole an inbounds pass, missed the shot, got fouled and made only 1 of 2 shots. We got 1 of 3 possible points out of his steal. The steal came with 57 seconds left and the score 64-67. Tyler’s single free throw made it 65-67. A three point play would have tied it.

- We managed to win both First Chance Points, (35-29) and Second Chance Points (17-10), but lost because we were beaten down court, (Fast Break Points: 6-17) and couldn’t get to the line (7 free throws made to 15)

Make no mistake, I dont care what the stats say, Gillon had one of the WORST all time games in modern SU history for a player playing significant minutes

bad decisions, turnovers , missed shots, he did it all. He scored 7 points and his first two not until late in the second half, and only because he was cherry picking and had a breakaway layup handed to him.

zero rebounds...5 turns...i realize his job isn't to get boards, but even a midget should get one freaking board just positionally.

The stats don't contradict you.
