Disagreement about what? You have always had to.be over 500 to get an at large bid.

Is there language somewhere that says this?
The selection principles do not state a team has to be over .500, just that the Committee pick the "best" 37 at-large teams. Chances are, none will be under .500.

That's what I found too. It's the almost impossible scenario yet so was a 16 over a 1...

I thought it was a rule. I have heard analysts say it was in the past not sure if they changed the rule at some point.
 
No such rule for either NCAA or NIT.
You can't get an at large bid with a losing record. Uk has to win the sec tourney which could happen.

It is not a formal rule. Has never happened of coure. Would have to be a really crazy year...
And yes, my question was about overall record. I feel like the committee will put in a big-name team with a poor record if they have any sort of an excuse.

No one is getting in with a losing record. Who did you have in mind?
 
big10 teams like Minn/PennSt/Maryland will be close - esp Minn and Mary
Maryland and Minnesota are a few games over they have a chance. Penn st is done no matter what their SOS is.
