New Big East officially adds Creighton, Xavier, Butler

Depaul and Seton Hall had to be involved for them to have the votes to dissolve the former BE. Price they had to pay, I guess.

Do the C7 know that Butler is not a Catholic school? I get it that Butler is viewed as hot these days for hoops (at least until their coach bolts) but why not Dayton? Closer, nice hoop tradition, good building and Catholic? Note this will be Butler's third conference in three years. Does John Thompson know they've been whoring around looking for leagues?

dayton and saint louis are likely joinign in 2014

Good moves. Should have added St Louis too they have a pretty nice seed and should go sweet 16 elite 8.

Creighton have the dumbest fanbase I ever met even though its only been 2 people. I saw them lose to Drake and tried talking about their move to the Big East/Catholic 7 with one of their fans sitting behind me and this idiot acted like it had no chance of happening and the Valley was awesome. He also didn't shut up about McDermott going top 10.

Louisville is still in the "Old Big East", or the "America12" or "The Conference Formerly Known as the BE"

They should call it America...#$K YEAH!

Another inconsistency is Butler plays football. Not D-1 level, but they still have a team. Unless they move up to the top level of football I think their conference merry go round has stopped for the near future.

Georgetown and Nova play football also. At least i'm pretty sure they do...

The biggest news outside of the official additions is that the Big East has its contract with Madison Square Garden locked in for the league tournament through 2026. A boon for the membership, no doubt. The league also signed a 12-year deal with Fox Sports, it announced.
That was a bit of a surprise.

My take is that the new Big East conference was willing to sign a 10 year contract with MSG. The ACC was not.

Look for the ACC to sign a 5 year contract with the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and look for the BET to be badly hurt by this (their attendance wasn't going to be very good anyway). The Barclays Center only holds 18K. Competition for tickets for the ACC tournament is going to be incredible.
