As an Orioles fan he will never surpass Cal, (I have wondered what Cal could have done surrounded by the Yankee's lineup rather than the 80's - 90's Oriole's line up), but Jeter was a great player.

Ah yes, poor Cal, who suffered through those terrible lineups mid-90s with Roberto Alomar, BJ Surrhoff, Brady Anderson, Rafael Palmeiro, Eddie Murray, Bobby Bonilla...

Too bad he didn't have a pitching staff. He only had guys that were consistently very good like Jimmy Key, Mike Mussina, Scott Erickson, etc.

He absolutely had a championship level team in the mid-90s, he just didn't capitalize on it.
