New Commit? Austin Wilson

Yeah I saw that from email via Scout. I don't get grabbing another QB but then again I'm not on the coaching staff.
Once Nassib graduates we need another QB. Jonny Miller left the team too. We should be adding at least 1, maybe 2 this class.

He was not rated by Rivals but he had 2 offers but interest from like 10 other schools in Cuse's peer group.
Scout was more kind with a high 2 star rating. Was ranked something like #84 QB in the country.

Very similar to Ryan Nassib's recruiting interest level in HS...but Austin may be a tad higher.

Welcome aboard Austin!

4 down 16-17 to go?

It looks like Ryan Nassib put a bug in Hackett's ear as his brother & Wilson's are roomates at PSU.

Austin's brother is a walkon TE at PSU. His name is Bryce. He is 6'4 230 pounds. Ryan's brother is Carl Nassib. He is also a walkon DE/TE . 6'5 220. You can meet them here.

Enola is on the other side of the Susquahanna River from Harrisburg. It is right off of I81, 256 miles from the Carrier Dome. The northermost battle of the Civil War occurred at nearby Sporting Hill, where Robert E Lee came close to capturing Harrisburg. Famous people from the Harrisburg area include Newt Gingrich, LeSean McCoy, Marques Colston, Ricky Watters, actor Robert Stevenson, the great actress Nancy Kulp (Miss Jane Hathaway on the Beverly Hillbillies). And last but not last, Kevin Mitchell, who starred for SU at NG in the early 1990s and played in the NFL for 10 years. Kevin sadly died of a massive heart attack in 2007 at the age of 36.

Carl probably stayed in state for financial reasons rather than walking on here.

You had me at Nancy Kulp.

Does have good size or mobility and of course I'm hoping he has both along with a good/great arm?

From looking at his film, he has good size (listed at both 6'2 and 6'3, appears legit). Skinny but reportedly has already added 15-20 pounds since his junior season. I didn't see a lot of long or hard throws...the offense he ran in HS emphasizes touch throws. He is definitely accurate.

He told us that Maryland, Pitt, and Rutgers were all showing interest. He has a great relationship with Marrone and Hackett. Says he has good mobility, but is a pocket passer with a big arm and loves the deep ball.

Possessing a laser arm, Kulp is a rail thin southpaw who is a no nonsense leader in the huddle.

Thank you for the info about Wilson and I trust Marrone in his evaluations so it's good to know he has some decent size. I'm pretty happy with the way the recruiting has been going so far.

And for Kulp Toga...she could yoddle at the line for some awesome audibles. Now we need to get Max Baer Jr.

A simply great post.

He says he's a pocket passer but I saw him take off a couple of times and he moves well.

#83 Delvaughn Dennis looked impressive, surprised to see he is headed for West Chester. He looked D1 to my eye but then again I thought that CBA fullback who played with Paulus did too. He went on to have an unremarkable career at New Hampshire.

Two technicalities to throw at you Tom. Firstly, the Confederate troops at Sporting Hill were under the tactical command of Richard Ewell. Lee was miles to the south, just across the PA border and west of Gettysburg.

Secondly, I like to consider the northernmost battle of the war in St. Albans, VT. Confederate raiders crossed over from Canada and knocked over a couple of banks in town. The raiders were later arrested in Canada.

But that's just my opinion.

Also, I can't allow a discussion of Harrisburg go by without mentioning the wonderfully named Santanna Banana Company.

From watching his tape, his mechanics need a lot of work.

I thought the same thing. While watching his tape, I kept thinking he doesn't throw the ball as much as he flicks it onward. I don't think he could get much power behind the ball while throwing that way.

Interesting take as always LeMoyne.

We need STO to weigh in here. He is, I believe, one of the top historians in the country on the Civil War. I am down with whatever he says. Even if it goes against the Wiki I used to post on this topic.

I want to know more about Santanna Banana. Their leading products or services are citrus fruit and orange fruit.

Wasn't that Jonny Miller's issue?

I think people are looking at the throwing mechanics and not paying attention to the types of throws he was making for most of that highlight film. He only threw a few balls that required complete footwork, most of that film was touch/fade/timing stuff.. he throws alot like PM does on those types of throws. when he was forced to roll out, throw on the run, he shows more complete technique. I only watched the first 5 min and didn't see any real deep throws or any throws that required extra zip, but he threw passes that Ryan is still struggling with and put the ball where it needed to be when it needed to be there..

who is the TE 83, he looked pretty solid.

Delvaughn Dennis, see my comments in this thread.

STO can back me up. I'm no Civil War slouch myself :D.

As for Santanna Banana, they offer all kinds of produce, a large part of it Orange. But most importantly to me, they produced one hell of a girlfriend whose only flaw is that she went to Villanova for undergrad, but I am making Orange as best I can.
