New Commit? Austin Wilson

I stand by what I've posted in the past: until our program as a whole (I say it like that because it's not a problem exclusive to Marrone & co) develops a competent, all-around QB, the jury is out on everyone one we bring in. Think HCDM and the staff have done a good job of identifying talent, esp early on, with the exception of the QB position. Let me also add that I think most of that is "luck" and not the staff's inability to see talent in every position other than QB, but I've just seen too much failure to give anyone the benefit of the doubt.

And since the QB position is the most crucial position in sports, I think warrants pointing out.

That said, hope the kid wins three Heismans while in Orange.

Austin's brother is a walkon TE at PSU. His name is Bryce. He is 6'4 230 pounds. Ryan's brother is Carl Nassib. He is also a walkon DE/TE . 6'5 220. You can meet them here.

Enola is on the other side of the Susquahanna River from Harrisburg. It is right off of I81, 256 miles from the Carrier Dome. The northermost battle of the Civil War occurred at nearby Sporting Hill, where Robert E Lee came close to capturing Harrisburg. Famous people from the Harrisburg area include Newt Gingrich, LeSean McCoy, Marques Colston, Ricky Watters, actor Robert Stevenson, the great actress Nancy Kulp (Miss Jane Hathaway on the Beverly Hillbillies). And last but not last, Kevin Mitchell, who starred for SU at NG in the early 1990s and played in the NFL for 10 years. Kevin sadly died of a massive heart attack in 2007 at the age of 36.
Yes Lee was headed for Harrisburg as you know jeb Stuart and the cavalry were AWOL and Rebel infantry got into a scrap with Bufords cavalry while going into the town of Gettysburg looking for shoes and other neccessities. The rest is history !

So the perceived need for shoes brought down The Army of Northern Virginia and the Florida State football program. If only Bobby Bowden had been as good a historian as LeMoyneCuse or STO.

The real question was what was the most northern battle of the Civil War? The wiki I read said The Battle of Sporting Hill, which was fought in an area that appears to now be called Camp Hill. Lemoyne says it was the St Albans Raid. I found another reference that says it was the Battle of Salineville, which was fought in Ohio on July 26, 1863. Good story on that one in the link above.

That reference says the St Albans Raid does not count because it was not an official command of the Confederate Army.

Another Confederate action, the St. Albans raid, was farther north than the Battle of Salineville. On October 19, 1864, thirty Confederates slipped southward from Canada and raided St. Albans, Vermont. However, they were not an official command of the Confederate army. General Morgan’s place of surrender at West Point is considered to be the northernmost point reached by an officially organized Confederate body during the Civil War.

A quick Google shows additional claims for this honor for Gettysburg and The Battle of Croton, which was fought in Iowa.

Great controversy! I guess it all depends on definitions. Interesting stuff though. I had never heard of any of these before except Gettysberg.

Thank you for the info about Wilson and I trust Marrone in his evaluations so it's good to know he has some decent size. I'm pretty happy with the way the recruiting has been going so far.

And for Kulp Toga...she could yoddle at the line for some awesome audibles. Now we need to get Max Baer Jr.

Max Baer Jr. could've played Tight End for Cuse...his Dad was the great Max Baer.

I just watched "Cinderella Man" the other day [speaking of Max Baer].

Wasn't that Jonny Miller's issue?
No, Miller had a shoulder surgery which screwed up his throwing motion. The staff shut him down until he fixed his motion so he wouldn't develop a bad habit or reinjure the shoulder. He had actually begun throwing a football before he assaulted that kid and got thrown off the team.

It all depends on your definition of the term battle Historians have never clarified the specifics so there were probably many skirmishes north of Gettysburg which of course is almost Maryland.
