New GM: Mykala Walker

This is the direction that college athletics is going, so, I am glad that we have made this move. Having said that, the old adage: winning breeds winning is still true. We need to start winning on the court, making deep runs in the NCAA tournament, winning an ACC title, those things on a consistent basis will breed winning. I think we can start that process with this team this year. Let's go Orange!!!

Women's basketball could absolutely be a profitable sport for SU, if they can figure out how to win consistently. This move should help.

I’ve read that South Carolina lost 5 million dollars last year, not sure how SU can make a profit if a team like that is losing so much money.

Dawn Staley makes $4million with a $250,000 increase each year over her 4 year contract.

It’s called the JMA Wireless Dome. Start winning with an exciting brand of basketball, and people will come. I used to love the Women’s / Men’s doubleheaders, and going to see players like Tiana and Fair with my daughter was awesome. If the Men can turn the ship this season, it’s only going to help raise the brand again, and that will lift the Women’s team too. This region will pay to see a dynamic, nationally ranked Women’s program. The fan support is here. We need to make the commitment and get both programs back in the national conversation. Imagine selling 15k seats consistently for women’s games. That would generate a lot of revenue. Gotta get butts in the seats.

That would be great, but I just don’t see if from our fan base. Hope we get a chance to find out.

I love what youre saying and I actually agree too...However, this is the first time ive seen this conversation and had someone agree with my stance.

Every Cuse fan I ever talk to states the same thing "No one cares about womens basketball" (P.S. theyre wrong and the numbers prove it.) but unfortunately that is the attitude of the Syracuse fan.

We know that upstate NY is actually a hot bed for womens bball and how do we know that? The womens NCAA tournament keeps coming back to Buffalo and Albany. There is a reason for that.

If Syracuse could get a superstar player and schedule nationally ranked schools at home and away in the non-conference, you would get some massive crowds in my humble opinion at the Dome for womens basketball.

I do believe that Wildhack has that thought too, its just convincing the rest of the university.

I hope so but it’s going to require more of a nil commitment from the school. I feel coach Jack is a really good coach who cares about her players but in today’s college game it’s all about the Benjamins.

It sure is and we are certainly are giving more $$ then we ever have to the womens program.

Laila Phelia is a prime example.
