Agreed especially when the defender jumps into air space that the offensive guy doesn't occupy. I think that should be an offensive foul if anything. Sure mistiming your jump isn't good defense but you are entitled to the space above you as a defender. In general for basketball hurling your body at any other body should not be rewarded.

Can call it the Luke Hancock rule.

Have they changed or better defined what actually is a charge? There are so many 50-50 charge/blocking calls if the definition remains so subjective - that could be an issue still for any team. Regarding hand checking I think that should mainly effect teams playing pressure defense like a Louisville etc.

If their is no hand checking Aaron Craft should foul out in 10 minutes this season. I am done with this kid already when Dick Vitale was slobbering all over him during the ACC preview show plugging his predicted All-American team.

Pitt will have 3 guys foul out in the first half of games if the refs actually enforce these rules.

It all depends on whether they consider pulling people's eye balls out with planned finger gouges a "hand check." Big East officials had no qualms with that move which is why Pitt was able to win a bunch of regular season games for 2 or 3 years there.

But aside from fab, who have we had that frequently tried it? I remeber mcw playing d last year and getting cleard with stiff arms but keeping his feet and not getting the foul call. If he falls over he likely does. So which one looks more like a basketball effort play? How about the UM flop that fouled mcw out or the UM slide under triche where the refs took points off the board and called it the other way? Shouldn't a 7 footer be trying to block that shot?

Fab was a huge flopper. Shumpert and Ovcina were floppers too, but overall we haven't had many.

The thing about Fab though was that he actually set himself and was actually fouled by the offensive player before he went down. He flopped, but it was to accentuate the charge, not make one up, like all those wonderful Paulus videos.

No doubt! As an organization's mission statement, through the years, Pitt has been as notoriously 'offensive' in this regard as anyone. Certainly, there lack of success come Dance time is directly linked to their style of play...
