New Post Standard SU FB writer

lol - you aren’t too much of a strategic thinker. There’s concern when a supposedly “Syracuse” writer doesn’t put Syracuse in their top 25 ranking. Especially when it was painfully obvious Syracuse was at least a top 20-ish team earlier in the year. It took her forever to vote Syracuse in the Top 25 polls. That is inexcusable. She had Missouri ranked waaay too high though! Fran mentioned our lack of ranking multiple times during interviews. It hinders reputation.
So, journalists should be homers and not objective. Got it. That explains a lot of your opinion right there.

lol - you aren't too much of a logical thinker.

Journalists should be both
They should try to right stories to promote the team and build local interest because that helps readership
They should be honest in the assessment when possible

Most coaches want the honesty if you have the discussion with them.

She had Cuse at 25 after week 3.

From this thread I’ve leaned that we want a beat reporter who is OBJECTIVE!

And we want a beat reporter who prioritizes ranking Syracuse AS HIGH AS POSSIBLE!

Good work, doofuses.

Also good luck to the new guy. Be prepared for half this board to hate you. It means you’re doing a fine job.

You missed no selfies in the stadium restrooms!

To be honest, I don’t think she ever recovered on this board after this initial tweet.

We all know it was a bad attempt at a joke, but I think it got her off on the wrong foot with a lot of people, and she never recovered with some.

She was good with her articles, just the joke wasn't that bad.

She got promoted to an NFL gig so you’re obviously having a bad take.
She did a good job here. If you dislike her for being a woman that’s on you.
She was fine and did the job. That said, I found here incredibly irritating at times.

Yeah that probably sums it up for me, although for me I'd probably remove the word 'incredibly'. Warmed up to her a bit more when she would join Axe on the podcast.

I felt spoiled by Stephen Bailey. He wasn't the best writer or the most personable, but really lived and breathed the job. He was clearly a fan, but wasn't always objective. It's just that he always covered it. Can you imagine how much content he would throw out there on syr.com and twitter with open practices?

But he'd never write a piece like she did with that Fran Brown article, or some of her other work. So I guess it just mostly depends on what you want out of the job.
