New ST/WR Coach: Jeff Lepak ??

Ehh hindsight is always 20/20. There were likely reasons he didn’t see the field until he did. He still weighs 160 wet. Line calls. Maybe acclimating to the university and studies early on. Knowing the playbook. 3 rbs in front of him. An established Riley who at least gets half season benefit from the prior years performance. As long as Jordan gets creatively woven into the offense this year. Much different circumstances in play.

Impossible to tell, but it certainly would not have hurt the odds...
Louisville's coach guit kicking to him after 3 kicks. He decided to kick short to the other side of the field. Didn't do that in the bowl game.

I would hope that one of the current graduate assistants gets a shot to earn a coaching spot. Not saying that they are more deserving than LePak but Trent Greene has three years experience as a grad assistant; Tim McAuliffe and Travis Greene have two years experience. Probably don’t want to be a grad asst for three or four years.

How? What has Lepak shown as a recruiter?

Lepak has one less commit to Cuse as Martin does in his time here (Garrison Johnson), who played for Kirk in High School.

Kirk's son is attributed to Dino's daughter.

Maybe we're just bringing Lepak back as quality control?
Wondering this myself as well since the head coach is gone he probably was going to be out of a job as well. Definitely wouldn’t be a flashy hire as a position coach with minimal experience as recruiter etc but maybe they saw something in him.

It appears all of the speculation so far is just coming from the McNeese st beat writer noticing that he’s not listed on their staff so assuming that he’s going with Gilbert as position coach. Like someone mentioned he’s following the new DC on Twitter so there is a SU connection but he could fit in a couple of spots.

Does Lustig get any credit for the kickers and punters? The guy has all-Americans and groza award winners on his resume now. He changed out the kick returners - maybe too late but he did it. It may not necessarily be 100% his call either, they chart everything, Riley may have always been most consistent.

regarding Gilbert and recruiting. I have no idea, but I do know he coached in Tampa for two years. Maybe he made some contacts...and maybe he’ll focus on targeting QBs. QB recruiting can’t be limited to geography b/c the northeast is usually weak.

I think Trent may have left SU.

There is a coaching opening at Kent St.
