Rex Ryan as DC with the intent that he replace Coughlin when he retires....win win to me.

win win for who? Ryan is an excellent dc but is no Head Coach. Plus, his big mouth is not the Giants way

Coughlin/Belichick come from the Parcells model that you say nothing in the media and run tight ships on their own teams. Rex is a good DC but Coughlin wouldn't want that mouth and plus Rex is going to be a HC in Oak or Atl or go in TV.

Fewell's gotta go and he will IMO, but, Rex is not the answer. As a HC, I'm sorry I wouldnt even want to consider it.

The NYG will be able to have the pick of picks at HC when Coughlin retires/is asked to move on. Very interested to see where they go with it.

Ryan already said he's not going to be anything other than a HC, or a TV personality.

Strong rumors of Fewell being shown the door with a Spagnolo reunion on the way.

So the Giants should hire a fired Jets coach as its head coach in waiting?

Do you think John Thompson III should replace Boeheim? Or Caliper start teaching an ethics course?

All scenarios are so way off brand, my man!

The Giants would never hire him, and Tom would retire first.

hysterical.

i also have to laugh at the spags rumours.

please, after leaving the Giants hes been basically a failure...as a HC & then as a DC again. hes basically got 1 foot out of the league coaching the DBs in baltimore.

if theres a better candidate than Fewell out there, somebody point him out...

i wish the bills had given the permanent job to fewell in 2009.

Couldn't think of a worse scenario. Maybe hire him as the DC, but certainly not as the HC-in-waiting...

weve done well with Bills rejects.

Gilbride, Fewell...whos your Specials Coach?? we need him to complete the exBill Coordinator to SuperBowl Champion Trifecta.

felt that way for a while, but i dont see it happening.

IR:

Thurmond
Beason
Amukamara
Ayers
Kiwi
Cooper Taylor
Jacquian

DRC & Kennard hurt all year.

the vets love him, hes won a Championship and they were the 8th best in 2013.

whos out there with a better resume?

and if next year blows...theyre all gone.

Rex has 2 head coaching interviews scheduled for this week and has a huge paying TV gig offer in his lap already. Why in god's name would he go be an assistant coach? Not to mention he has said he won't do it and will be a Head Coach or go to TV

2014 - 29th in total D
2013 - 18th in total D
2012 - 31st in total D

He has not done much with whatever he's had since the last ring.

Hope not. Can't stand him or his father, and I'm not sold that he's even a good head coach anyway. His Jets were often a situation that you just sat back and laughed at during his tenure.

I wouldn't mind if they give Pepper Johnson a shot at DC. He coached under Belichick for so many years. Seems he would be ready to get a DC job at this point.

Possibly promote McAdoo to HC when Coughlin retires depending on how next season goes.

The D wasn't good in 2011 either. They got it together for the last month. They gave up 400 points in the regular season and were a big reason why we barely got into the playoffs at 9-7. Thankfully, Eli had an MVP caliber season.

I had long been on the fence with Fewell, but the game they blew against Dallas while rushing 3 and giving Romo like 15 seconds to throw the whole drive broke me. I have no faith in him.

I'm not a huge Fewell fan, but I don't think anyone could have done anything great with our situation this year.

It's always easy to want the "TBD awesome coordinator", but that isn't reality.

And the Giants aren't going to bring in someone that will rock the boat with the media.

Giants will have their pick of HC when TC leaves, but he's got us two rings and has earned the right to exit gracefully (even if there needs to be some ushering).

At that point, who knows what the staff will look like. Hope Fewell, if he stays, can put together a good year.

I agree anyone would have been hard pressed to do better than Fewell this year BUT I don't like his schemes and he has the defense playing passively even when he has all his guys. Don't like him but that end of the Dallas game was a crime.
