I can see the hoops schools breaking away and forming a league. Go get St. Joes, GW, Butler, St. Louis, and Xavier.

That would be a nice property for NBC or CBS to build a college hoops inventory around.

Big 12 should think about taking Lville and Cinci. Two solid programs in both Football and Hoops.

Uconn and Rutgers have no choice and join the MAC along with Temple.

That bball league would be better than the SEC and P12.

Hoops schools will need to determine if there is any incremental value in being associated with the football schools.

Since 1991 that answer was always a resounding yes.

We'll see.

If they were to split, then IMO the BBall schools should go to 12 by adding St Louis, Butler, Detroit, Xavier, and Boston U. They can go to East-West divisions. That would make sense geographically and at the same time add markets without diluting current ones.

East- GTown, Nova, St Johns, Seton Hall, Providence, Boston
West- Marq, Xavier, Butler, Saint Louis, DePaul, Detroit

Still think they make more money sticking together though. It might even make sense to add 3 more BBall schools. Then divide into two divisions of 10: one FB schools and one BBall. Play your division mates twice (18 games) and then rotate 2 teams from the other division. So you play those teams once every five years. Isn't ideal but still better than a complete split. In this case I would add Butler, St Louis, and Detroit.

BBall Division- GTown, Nova, Marq, St Johns, Butler, Seton Hall, Saint Louis, Providence, DePaul, Detroit
FB Division- UConn, Louisville, Cincy, Memphis, Temple, Houston, RU, USF, UCF, SMU

That of course would suck for UConn playing their old BBall BE mates once every 5 years. But it makes sense for everyone else.

Louisville could still end up in the SEC with OK. The Girls and Connmen will be playing a lot of Tuesday night games.

Butler has a nice new home in the Atlantic 10. I don't see them moving again.
