Next week is gonna be huuuuuge

The reason we’re not favored while the numbers generally favor us is recruiting/talent and being home.

But I think they are ready to fold on their HC and VaTech wants to get rid of him…

Unfortunately, every year we play a team that is reeling and we fail to take advantage. We should beat them because we are better than them. Hoping to take advantage hasn't worked

2021- FSU was 0-4
2020- Duke was 0-4, Louisville lost 6 of 7 and we had 2 weeks prep
2019- FSU HC was on his way out, BC lost 3 of 4
2017- FSU was 2-5, Wake had lost 4 of 5
2016- ND had lost 3 of 4, NC State had lost 4 straight

2018 wasn't a loss but we went to OT with UNC whose HC was on his way out and they were 1-4 at the time.

I predict 400 yards rushing between Shrader and Tucker. Why? Because I hate VT and Sean Tucker is going to win the Heisman next year and Doak Walker this year.

I hate VT so much... soooooooooooooooooo much.

I once got stuck in Blacksburg during a snowstorm. I would have rather been stuck in Chernobyl.

Are we kidding with this? We win this game. Sean Tucker will be pleased with his game. Shrader gets to finally crack a smile during an interview. Defense gets 7 sacks.

No hedging on this one. Screw VT, Blacksburg, Frank Beamer, Mike Vick, Kevin Jones, DeAngelo Hall, and everyone else that played there..

We win this game going away. Sean Tucker will run over them, around them and through them.

Honestly, I loathe this team.
Adams gets some run, too. It is possible we have three 100-yard rushers.

I was talking about this with a friend from my view in the 4th row at the 30 yard line - we both think Adams runs too upright. Reminds me of Butch Woolfolk, the RB from Michigan who the Giants selected in the same draft as Joe Morris.

I'm not saying that Sean Tucker is Joe Morris, but the more I see Sean Tucker, he reminds me of Buffalo Bills great Thurman Thomas. Same kind of between the tackles style, great balance, great vision, sees the hole - but lacks that breakaway "5th gear" that some backs have.

VTech's defense isn't bad, but their rushing defense is bad. Interesting match up for sure. Syracuse will be the best defense VT has faced all season. If we score 20 we might win.

#36 scoring defense (#2 Clemson / #55 Syracuse)
#49 total defense (#24 Clemson / #20 Syracuse
#13 3rd down conversion defense (#29 Clemson / #40 Syracuse)
#80 rushing defense ***** (#27 Clemson / #28 Syracuse)
#37 pass defense (#12 Clemson / #89 Syracuse)
#36 sacks (#35 Clemson / #7 Syracuse)
#78 tackles for loss (#32 Clemson / #18 Syracuse)

Total Offense
#120 VT (#63 Syracuse)

Scoring Offense
#111 VT (#62 Syracuse)

By the numbers we're a way better team but they're favored. We need to find a way to win a game finally. Best way to do that is just score some points early and put it away.
SU = no credible passing attack, horrible on third down. Until those get fixed nothing is certain

I mean, even with those fixed, is anything really certain? We're all just on this spinning rock posting incessantly on this board and it's likely most of us are also drinking some sort of lager.
Aside from the existential question, if there was any average pass game SU would be 3-0 in the ACC regardless of all the other issues

agreed. Its a combination of Sharder not being a good passer, WRs not beating coverage and play calling. A losing trifecta.

Hey, never going to get an argument from me on the value of a good pass rush. Fixes a lot of other things.

I've said this before, but we need Dino to put his boot on the throat of one of these vulnerable teams and choke them out.

If someone has the time before Friday, can someone email Gilbert and let him know he might need to make adjustments in the 2nd half.

Has that ever really happened though besides Lville in 2018? That's not really a staple of Babers teams, as I think someone else pointed out in this thread earlier SU's record against "vulnerable" type teams is horrific.

Brutal, some of those losses are infuriating.

Agree about Va Tech. I wish we played them every season.

I know. That's why I said we need to see it happen.

We whiff on a lot of opportunities.

I'm just not sure its possible with team or really any of the teams under Babers save for the 2018 squad. Were not a quick strike offense (for the most part) and this team clearly has little history in winning consistently less blowing teams out. Waiting for this team to have a killer instinct is a bad idea.

Well not that with that attitude, Jeremy!

The Atlantic isn’t bad this year.
NC State and Wake are top 25 teams.
Clemson just isn’t Clemson.
Syracuse, BC, Louisville are solid.
Florida State is underachieving.

If Pitt beat Western Michigan they are top 15.
Pitt if they beat Clemson this week should go 11-1 and be legit in the ACC Championship game.
North Carolina and Miami have been dumpster fires.
Ga. Tech and Virginia are like SU/UL/BC.
Duke is the worst team in the ACC.
The Acc wasn't great when Clemson was elite. Wake and nc State are good for their standards. We 100 pct should have beat Wake. The conference doesnt have one team in the cfp discussion.

This is a case that I don’t think history matters that much, honestly

With the exception of this year vs FSU, all of those SU teams sucked (2017 FSU was Dungey on a broken foot), so I am hoping(emphasis on hoping) that we get it right this time, because this team is better than 2016,2017,2019,2020. Time to do it boys

We are a better team and even with an away game we really should win. If we can't beat Va Tech we are in big trouble the rest of the way. BC will be tough, Pitt very tough.
We absolutely have to go 2-0 the next two Saturdays. 1-1 will keep a glimmer of hope alive but it isn't realistic to think we could finish 6-6. Frankly our best chance is to go 3-0 (@VT, BC, @UL) and then play the last two games for bowl game positioning.
