And yet this isn’t even close to the last time someone will suggest these same unattainables.Amazingly, every single person you listed has a 0% chance of being the head coach at Syracuse.

A ton of mid-major guys have jumped to P5 and killed it. We just need a good coach based on a national search. Give me Josh SchertzAct like a blue blood program (top 20 program historically by every measure) and hire a proven power 4 coach.
I don't have direct knowledge of what happens at Uconn, but it's been reported that Murray is the one who changed the offense. Not sure he's just a guy in a room.Entertaining a coach from UConn is where I draw the line. There are certain traditions you don’t spit on and hiring a Husky to run Syracuse basketball is one of them. That’s not thinking outside the box that’s forgetting who we are.
Let’s pump the brakes on this Murray hype train. He’s an assistant on a staff that’s been stacked for years, working under a head coach who’s the actual architect of that offense. Being in the room where good things happen doesn’t make you the reason they happen.
If we’re talking about the next Syracuse head coach, the bar should be a lot higher than “young guy who lives nearby and might be good someday.” This isn’t a developmental internship. This is a program with history, expectations and a rivalry with UConn that should disqualify their staff on principle alone.
Some lines you just don’t cross.
People here are ridiculous with that. Where does everyone think Hurley and Oats came from.A ton of mid-major guys have jumped to P5 and killed it. We just need a good coach based on a national search. Give me Josh Schertz

Hurley did nothing until Murray joined his staff. Absolutely nothing.Entertaining a coach from UConn is where I draw the line. Hurley at Uconn:Hurley did nothing until Murray joined his staff. Absolutely nothing.
He should definitely get a look. That said, I would hope that he can run a whole team and not just the offense. That's the gamble with assistants until they show that they can. That timeline can't be ignored. Luke Murray should get a look by JW.
"A proven Mid-Major HC is not only what is most likely, it's one of the best ways to go. Many programs have recently become successful after doing that." Agree. Look at what Mark Byington has done at Vandy in two years. The guy can coach, has been dead-eye on portal commits, and has a top-level HS recruiting class signed for next yearA proven Mid-Major HC is not only what is most likely, it's one of the best ways to go. Many programs have recently become successful after doing that.
With that said, Murray might be a future star so he deserves a look. Apparently he's responsible for Uconn's elite offense, so he's an Xs and Os guy, and he's young and lives nearby. Hope JW kicks the tires.
0.01% chance of getting Nate Oats at this point, but with that said I still hope JW puts together the best package possible and calls him, because what's the harm in him saying no (which I assume he would). Not interested in a power conference coach who hasn't been elite. And of course the elite ones are expensive so it's likely not viable.
In summary, elite mid-major hc makes sense to me.
He should definitely get a look. That said, I would hope that he can run a whole team and not just the offense. That's the gamble with assistants until they show that they can.
If Gmac wins the MAAC and goes to the tournament he will get a hard look
I'd like to see this season through or more of the season before answering this poll. But I will say a hard no to Gerry.
I'm genuinely curious what makes you think Red is the right guy for the job? We're not missing a top 5 draft pick. You could make the case this team has gotten worse. They have defensively. We can't get much worse offensively.Yes, until we see 10 games with Donnie, with the way the rest of the team has been playing without him - which is honestly pretty good, IMO - then we don't know what this team looks like. End of January / Mid- February, we'll know whether Autry is the right guy or not.

What about Jay Wright or Tony Bennett?Lets project some here and see where people are with their coach search expectations... In theory lets say
-Red Misses NCCAA tourney again but team improves its record
-Gerry leads Siena to MAAC title and NCAA tourney
Can only do 4 choices.. Other choice would be hire and Old Head with limited years like Pitino
