Down in South Florida honoring Derrick Coleman and Bobby Huggins. Bernie Fine prominently featured. Good to see.

Whenever I think of Shackleford I'm always reminded of the Phrase "The hardest working man in Show business" He did everything for Boeheims early teams including starting at all 5 positions in the same season. I think he might be still in top 20 in steals , rebounds and certainly he is top 40 in scoring , and probably in assists despite not playing in almost 45 years now,

One of my favorite playcalls of my early days was Joel Marienus saying another bucket by Shack the showman,
Terribly under rated in the overall scheme of SU basketball as a player.

Whenever I think of Dale is when he called my roommate loudly a vulgar name because he had the temerity to ask for his student id meal card to get in to Kimmell to eat. Not letting that it was a mandatory check and all my roommate was doing was following the rules.

Sorry to hear about that experience. I knew Shack a little bit and he was one of the friendlier and more engaging guys on those teams, always a class act in my personal experience.

You roommate is lucky Shack wasn't DC!

Depends on the tone your friend asked with.
You act like that is okay in civilized society? It isn't. It's just a bully. And the funny thing is, every bully I have ever known, in their heart are cowards. There are always someone bigger and tougher. Always.

Yup, and as tough as you are you gotta sleep sometimes. Better be out there making friends

No. I have never condoned anyone who is a bully. In fact since I was in college I have donated my time and money to battered women and children. Today I sit on a foundation that donates significant funds to them as well as other groups/causes.
I dont condone bullying or abuse. My wife worked extensively with both mentally and physically challenged children. Wrote and was awarded a grant in the state of ND years ago that funded an educational program that was partially aimed at combating the social bullying that these kids had to deal with in school.
So don't confuse what I speculated DC would have done with condoning the action.

He is a very underrated player in our history. No idea what he was like on campus. As a player more people should be aware of his place here. He was very good.

I think I was a frosh or soph when Dale was a Senior in HS. I played against him in a summer game. Don't remember much about it as I didn't play much that game. He was such a gifted player. Smooth is the word that comes to mind when I think of his play.

Coleman, Huggins and Fine, together in a room. Boy thats a motley-crue.
Still to this day the best asst coach we had and especially big guys and how he mentored them. Honestly he took Ron and made him an animal when i wasnt sure he had the ability back then as a frosh. He had athletic ability but wasnt sure about the rest and boy did i eat crow and gladly.
