There has been a lot of discussion on this board about the difficulty of finding SU hoops games on TV.

When Time Warner lost the rights to SU games and CNYCentral picked them up we were led to believe we would continue to have coverage on local channels 3 (NBC), 5(CBS) and 6(CW) The sports director for CNYCentral, Niko Tamurian told us on this site that this would be the case. Did this only apply to conference games?

Niko used to post regularly on this site but I don't recall what name he used so I don't know if he still posts.

There are 2 different regional packages for ACC games. One is the "ACC Network" which is mostly over-the-air local affiliates. I believe this is only used for conference season (but not completely sure). We've had 1 football game on this package so far this year.

The second is the ACC RSN or regional sports network which is made up mostly of regional cable sports channels (i.e. MSG/MSG+/YES, MASN, NESN, etc.). We've had 3 football games on this package so far, and of course the upcoming Cornell game that everyone can't seem to find. Considering it's a regional package, it makes sense that people outside of the general NY region probably won't find it as each channel makes their own programming decisions and may have other commitments (hockey, NBA, other local interests).

The biggest problem with Friday's game is that it's on MSG+2 in NY state. As far as I know, most people don't have this in upstate as it's just an alternate feed of MSG+. I only found out it exists when I got FiOS, never had it on TW, but it's still only in SD. Maybe MSG has the ability to split their signal and put it on the main channel upstate, but that's purely a hope.

Can't help you TWC people, but I have DirecTV, and Friday's game is listed on Channel 636-1.

As an aside, Friday night is a bad one for cable, etc. connections, as there are usually a bunch of NHL/NBA games that evening. Which should mean that it will be easier to find SU games most of the rest of the season.

i think the bigger issue is why so many games made it to espn3 with no tv at all.

Thank you so much for your informative reply. I don't like what I read, but I appreciate the information. I can call Time Warner and complain, but I doubt that will help anything. Still, as one who feels personally responsible for helping to end the Vietnam War, I guess I'll give it the old college try! (Never give up, never surrender!)
