NLI Early Signing Period?

Why is there no NLI early signing period for football but there is one for other sports? Seems strange since football starts earlier.

I agree...would help...but I also think if a head coach gets fired after a kid signs he can get out of it.

I've heard some coaches push for it. I would think if enough coaches wanted it, the AD's would push for it and it would happen.

Some of the "big-time" schools don't want it (presumably so they can come in last minute and snag guys from others)

Another inequity with college football!! Early signing period would help out the schools that don't have high attrition rate from the NFL.
