NNBE FB Schedules must be upgraded

Agreed. In fact, I expect the NNBE to be off the schedule for much of the next 5-8 years, much like the BCU treatment after their BE departure.

I didn't say we had to play them right away...most games are scheduled 5-10 years down the road.

For all those 2 for 1 or pound sand guys...when was out last 2 for 1 negotiated? I haven't heard of any in 10 years. Maybe Akron was the last one.

My point is play another low to mid level BCS team unless the nnbe teams want to do 2-1. I'd do a 1-1 with an Illinois but not a cfu.

Point noted...but a lot more recruits come from FL than IL. Also, we had at least 5000 fans last weekend at USF...doubt we'd put more than 500-750 fans at Champaign-Urbanna

will navy back out of series with them joining bigeast while we leave?

until we start having continuous success(7 wins or more) what mark has should be scheduling model but i dont really want to play uconn it does nothing for me.maybe a 1-1-1 deal with rutgers where 1 each home then the other game rotates at either yankee stadium or metlife. iwould put the tulane and mac schools in the army, navy and bigeast section and pay a middle of the road bcs team

ucf or usf i wouldnt mid having some games every few years.would like to get wvu into some sort of rotation

Understand the fan thing but I also don't think we should be helping teams in the conference we left. No win situation.

This entire TV Contract situation reminds me of the housing bubble of 2008. Artificially inflated prices skyrocketed upwards until the market could bear no more. Eventually the entire house of cards came crashing down.

My point is that I believe these TV contracts will deflate back down to reasonable levels.

This. Unless Rutgers wants a 2 for 1, they get nothing. They need us more than we need them. As Bees said, I get playing before the fans. But there is no need to do a 1-1 with Rutgers when we play a game in Giants Stadium.

Sorry, what is NNBE?
First there was the Big East.

After the first ACC poaching there was the New Big East.

July 1st, 2013 will be the start of the New New Big East. AKA: NNBE, Big SunBeast or C-USA II.

We're talking FB...not BB.

Basketball I still like the idea of playing GTown 1 game annually and playing SJU one game in the Garden every year on a Saturday...the Garden gets split in half for ticket sales. Cuse still will have 75% of the fans. UConn in BB is not as high on my list as GTown and SJU.

I think --- way more than most --- that the Rutgers football program is teetering on the edge of irrelevance in NJ/NY. Ten years ago their typical crowd was 20,000. That area of the country --- where I was brought up --- will support only big time winners. There was a perception and a band wagon effect built up around Rutgers heading in that direction. If that momentum is seen to stall, then they can easily slip back. Now, even if they win, they are not in the "big time" as the populace views the "big time".

There's no way SU should throw them any sort of life line. We should do to Rutgers what BC did to UConn, if the ACC even sniffs at expanding.

Playing Georgetown in DC won't bring back the era of the 1980's. Our playing Maryland, Virginia and Virginia Tech is going to give us all the presence we need in DC/VA and MD including talent-rich Baltimore.

What we really need is a presence in Philadelphia. That means playing Villanova and or Temple and maybe even the rest of "The Big Five".

Sorry, what is NNBE?

One set of definitions would be:

1. The original Big East - The basketball conference formed in the early 1980's that featured SU, St John's. and Georgetown with names like Ewing, Pearl Washington, Walter Berry, Chris Mullin, etd., etc.

2. The Big East Football Conference or BE - The expansion of th Original Big East to include enough football schools to form a conference.

3. The New Big East (NBE) or what was left and added after VT, Miami and VT left.

4. The New, New Big East (NNBE) - what was left and added after SU and Pitt (and now ND) announced they were leaving.

Or, my favorite name, the PDGC - the Psycho Ditched ex-Girlfriend Conference.

There are still other reasons why leaving makes sense. They're not going to all fall apart too. Stability, more attractive list of schools both academically and athletically, access to better bowls (attractiveness and $).

If that TV bubble bursts, and a new TV market emerges, who would you rather be aligned with, Florida State or Rutgers?

Thanks to you and Townie...it's hard to keep up with all the big east changes especially when they start to hire footlocker salesmen to ref games due to budget costs.
