Midway through the first half after yet another careless turnover the entire team jogged down on defense and watched Mercyhurst make a layup. The HC didn’t move and left the same lineup in.

There’s two guys that consistently give effort in Kyle and Kingz. There’s too many others not giving max effort.

The turnovers are careless and make us look like we are an AAU team that practices once a week.

We should be 9-2 right now if it wasn’t for terrible fundamentals and bad effort. Donnie Freeman is not fixing any of that and he’s not an excuse for what we’ve seen since the Tennessee game.

The last few games could have been hosted by OCC with the crowds we’ve had. At this point Red needs a miracle with the product being thrown out there. And the excuse will not be NIL or lack of athleticism. The team does not look like it’s buying into the staff’s coaching at all.

The last game against Hofstra, there were 2-3 loose balls that featured multiple Hofstra players on the ground going after the ball. There were 0 Syracuse players on the ground going after the ball. They were flailing their arms at the ball, lunging for it, half-heartedly going after it.

What exactly does LEVEL 5 effort mean? It's all a schtick. And quite tiresome. Give me a break.

It was discussed earlier in the week on the Orange Nation radio show, but the team doesn’t seem to have an identity beyond playing hard and they don’t even seem to be doing that consistently.

Our offensive schemes are weak. Hardly any off ball motion, just high pick and rolls with Will Kyle that don’t accomplish anything 9 out of 10 times then asking players to create for themselves. Red defending the offense in his presser is as big of a red flag as you can get.

If he wasn’t a alumn he would be fired mid season. No top 10-15 basketball program should put up with what we are seeing on the floor. The fact we have to wait until the end of the season is a joke.
To be fair we’re not midseason yet. Counting extra ACCT we’re only about a third of the way through.

A loss to Pitt or BC should really be fireable offense midseason. Obvi if somehow we drop one of the next 2 as well.

JW is just that a Wild”Hack”. He will just bury his head in the sand even as he watches the team get worse and worse.

Thinking if he sees Piit fire Capel midseason then he’ll be more likely to do something with Autry. But exactly what you said this hometown alumni crap clouds people thinking clearly cuz of what they did 35 years ago in CNY.

I’m against firing college coaches mid-season unless there’s a scandal. It doesn’t accomplish anything other than giving people a dopamine hit. It’s unfair to the players who committed a year of their lives to play at a school for the coach in question.

The “we’ll get a jump on the search” is also nonsense. ADs and their emissaries can put out feelers to agents and other intermediaries during a season. I’d be stunned if that wasn’t already occurring in quiet ways.

I'm just happy that the excuses will finally come to an end.

This offseason, we'll get insight into what the University and AD want the basketball program to be -- a P4 powerhouse like before, or a program that they are comfortable having be consistently mediocre.

Agreed. The "search" will tell you everything you need to know about the future direction of Cuse basketball. Sadly, I am not overly confident

Cuse!

There is no scenario where the university will fire Red mid-season short of firing him for cause. Like it or not, he will be given the opportunity to play out the season.

what i don't get is how you have more turnovers than assists against a team you
bought a win from. they aren't good. not remotely close to the Orange in talent,
and you got 10 assists to 14 turnovers? try something other than this iso offense
against a weak team. teams Red played on would've put up 90+ with 25 assists
in this game; he's got to remember something of that style, no?

After the Hofstra debacle I’ve had enough and you could see uninspired performances like this one following suit from a mile away. We need a capable and experienced pro running this program. Pair that with effective recruiting and the necessary funding. We walked into this year having to carry some faith given the off season. That said, the fact that the concerns about coaching were very real as early as the exhibitions and are now proving to be true is really disturbing given we are only as fans seeing a small percentage of what this staff is doing.

What the hell is everyone else looking at who allowed us to enter the season under Red with this mess? I guess just the fact we have to give him 3 years? It’s just maddening. An empty dome and disinterested fanbase.. even pushing away some of us long timer, hardcore and alums is exactly what happens when this is how things are handled. Be that unfair or not….

I’m not confident that we’ll get that clarity. We’ll almost certainly hire an up-and-comer. Maybe he’ll be the next Dan Hurley. Maybe he’ll be the next one of a thousand failures. There really are no sure things.

Now, what *would* provide clarity is if we hear about greatly increased NIL budgets, staff salaries, development facilities, etc. Those are the kind of sustainable investments that pay off in the long term, even when you misfire on a coaching hire.

Same here. Not saying this is an issue at SU because I have no clue, but if there is any antisemitism lurking on campus, that might rule Schertz out.

Let’s just hope we can make the changes and course correct as quickly and effectively as Louisville has.
