The old man did some coaching this week. He's got a new lease on life.
Somehow he designed a defense to have the other team miss wide open looks.whatever he did to the defense worked...
Nailed it, but we’ll take it.Somehow he designed a defense to have the other team miss wide open looks.

That’s fair...but you have to acknowledge that this change in D is causing more turnoversSomehow he designed a defense to have the other team miss wide open looks.
And I am sure some of them were “that’s the guy we want to shoot” shotsThere weren’t as many wide open looks as people think.
Would love a shot at a title run. Just making the tournament is a shot at a S16 run.I think the key is the 5* frosh emerging and getting out of his head. We have a shot at a Sweet 16 run if so.

According to Buddy, JB drew it up at the kitchen table before Indiana (the stuff of legends, if accurate).1-3-1
A good adjustment. Buddy said JB drew it up on a napkin. High tech. LOL.According to Buddy, JB drew it up at the kitchen table before Indiana (the stuff of legends, if accurate).
Had to adjust after seeing how Auburn, VCU and even Colgate sliced us up inside.
It fits our personnel (Buddy’s size) and the need to keep teams from attacking from the high post. Better use of Edwards as well to keep him deep to defend inside..
We are going to be vulnerable to perimeter shooters at the top (always a trade off).
Sounds about right. I just hope I am as sharp and have as much gusto at his age. Can't wait to see what he will do vs Nova.A good adjustment. Buddy said JB drew it up on a napkin. High tech. LOL.
OkayTell that to the many programs who have never made it that far. My wife is a UNM Lobo, a program with staunch support and great facilities. They’ve never been to a sweet 16. Makes you appreciate our horrible coach a little more.
It works at the back because Edwards has the foot speed to cover from corner to corner.According to Buddy, JB drew it up at the kitchen table before Indiana (the stuff of legends, if accurate).

Traditional 1-3-1's use a smaller man along the baseline. Look back at some of Beilein's best WVa teams.
That is one part, sure. But the real point is improved inside defense, from the foul line back. Look back at how we got carved up in the paint in our losses. It works at the back because Edwards has the foot speed to cover from corner to corner.

I remember at WVA Edelin throwing up dunks to Hak and Melo over and over again, so it seemed. Forced WVA out of the 1-3-1.Yep, he should watch the highlights. Both of Edwards' blocks in this game were on corner threes. First time I've seen that.

Geez, what I would give to have a guy with the athleticism like Hak againCorrected. It was GMac
