Who said strength? You are not seeing what I'm saying on the surface and trying to find hidden meaning, there isn't any. You want a great offense fine, I want a SERVICEABLE defense to go with it. Doesn't have to be a strength but it does have to be better than what we have now.

i'd have to scrounge up the links but it's very rare for a non-factory to be good at one thing and above average at the other

i agree, we have to not suck - i think we're just different on what's acceptable on d. you're more around 50, i would take 80 (it's like some weird s shaped curve where it really doesn't make much difference between 50 and 80 but there's a huge difference between 80 and 110 and 50 and 20)

yeah that's fair but I meant an acceptable defense, not combo of the two. I would agree that an avg defense with a top 15 offense means you are a good team. Isn't that what we are looking for? You want top offense, I want avg defense to go with it = no more MDs and a team worthy of filling the dome for.

a top offense with an average defense is a great team. i think you'd be surprised, at least I was. I need to dig out the stats from the search

Cordy does a mix of things Ok, not sure he does any one thing great.. But he throws his body around, knocked their best player out of the game for what that is worth.

Without him at safety we see the drop off in depth.

the D considering really not a ton of great pressure has at least held its own in creating TOs. thats all you can ask. they are catching the catch able balls and that helps.

It's almost like we are playing two new tackles and a guard and don't go max protect ever.

My guess the trend line improves over the season.

the defense will never be a strength. we need to outscore people and hope that turnovers aren't luck (this is where the narrator interjects that it's luck. we spend our money on a smart offense so that's what we get. best i hope for is some year with a great offense and we luck out with a defense that isn't bad

On D, they need to forget about the stupid big hit and just grab legs and hold on for dear life (there’s a gay joke in there somewhere, find it).

A layup is just as good as a dunk and a boring leg tackle is just as good as a big hit.

Wake is currently ranked 11th overall on offense and 59th on defense. That would be acceptable. I'm not asking for the world. Just not 2nd to last.

Speaking of Wake offense, I watched bits of the Elon game and they've got this really weird looking delayed hand-off play they keep running to great success. It looks new to me. After the snap, the QB sticks the ball in the RB's gut and doesn't remove his hands for what seems like an eternity. Then he either remove his hands eventually or retracts the ball for a QB keeper or a throw. Suffice to say, our OL would never allow us to run the same play.
