So much for uptempo. 67 plays. SC ran 64 in a half.

16 teams had 575 yds or more, 41 had 500 or more, and Baylor, Lville and Miami are yet to play. SU is currently 94th after the 32o yds they got against a FBS opponent at home.

I get the whole Hunt missed a half, Parris, Robinson, Palmer injury thing, but you have to do better than that, don't you?

17pts in regulation. Since the Tulane game the offense has scored, 14, 24, 0, 13, 20, 3, 16, 34, 21, and 17 in 60 minutes, average of 16pts a game.

The defense didn't help not being able to get off the field but not good.

hard to run a lot of plays when defense can't get off the field on 3rd down

I really hope everyone has a chance to turn on Baylor right now on Fox Sports 1. Now Art Briles runs a hurry up offense that consists of pushing the ball downfield, and going north-south. You will not see any sidelines to sidelines stuff from him.

Not sure what to think either. I'm trying to take an optimistic look to it all. We do have more talent than 3-4 years ago, I'm hoping that means something. Completely at a loss what to think though and I think we might not really know where we are at for 4 - 5 games. This feels like, the way I've felt for years though.

Optimism punched in the face come game time. This time I was kicked in the b@lls too but was so deflated already it didn't even matter. And we won the game, LOL. What?

This is bordering on insane. Our 2nd string QB who is a redshirt freshman couldn't go as fast. Not a harbinger for the rest of the season. Also - McDonald said only 10% of the offense was available for Wilson.

Going fast was not in the cards once Hunt went down.

McDonald should probably stop giving interviews. Hearing that the 2nd-string QB can only run 10% of the offense isn't something that people outside the program need to know. Same goes for Lester saying the red zone problems were because the package of plays were there for Hunt.

Thankfully our DL coach bailed the team out with a red zone call that worked.

Hunt didn't go down.

I agree and honestly hate the bubble screens, most annoying and dangerous play in the playbook and we run it seemingly every down. I am pretty sure there are other ways to make opposing defenses defend from sideline to sideline.

It seems we only stretch the field horizontally, not vertically. We make opposing defenses defend sideline to sideline but only for about 10 yards past the line or 3 yards behind it.

It is almost like we put ourselves in a red zone offense on our own side of the field. Defenses I am sure love to know that is the only area we attack.

Interested to hear how defiant he is in the next interview.

Just a question, have we ever broken a bubble/tunnel screen for more than 10 yards? I honestly don't recall.

Still smarting from Friday night's game.

What an awful performance and what a let down.

That is my main thing. I'm not bitching because I want to complain. I'm extremely disappointed. I had extremely high expectations, and feel we have the players to be a very good team. That performance was just so disheartening. I think most here finally felt it was the beginning of a new era and it just felt like more of the same BS.

I agree, thought we turned the corner. We turned the corner and got hit by a bus.

I guess one happy way to look at it that they managed to hit their average.

I'm sorry, but the kid has been in the program for a year, had a spring and August camp to learn more that 10% of the offense. Here's a thought, run the ball with one of your four TB's effectively and make some first downs. There are more plays than the zone read and stretch I hope.

There are redshirt freshmen starting all the time that are able to execute more that 10% of the offense.

probably means they had a bunch of running in for Hunt and once he was ejected they had to scrpa that since Wilson is not fast or elusive

Our DL line coach, oh you mean the guy who should be the defensive coordinator.

I would be interested in the rationale behind all the lateral passes. You watch the usual high octane offenses that Gundy, Sumlin, Kingsbury, and Briles have and it's all pushing the ball downfield. I really hope some people are watching Baylor right now. They have 24 points in the 1st quarter and I have yet to see a pass that hasn't traveled at least 7 yards downfield. Even the running plays are straight ahead attacking the defense. I've never heard of an offense, or at least a successful one that wants to go laterally.

I get the rational , get estime and broyld in space 1 on 1 with db

That may be the case, but something is radically wrong when you're backup qb, who has been here as long as you're OC only knows 10% of the offense.

Chris people, it's one game and we won. Any of you ever ever play golf? Maybe you bogey the first hole. Bounce back and make a birdie. Do you all really think we won't improve during the season? Do you think Shafer and co didn't realize there's work to be done?

Hunt plays the whole game we probably win by 3 TD's.

And I hate that philosophy. You are basing your system on the assumption that you will get special players. How about a system that works with good, but not special, guys? A system that would be even better with special guys in the skill positions.

2 years ago staring us in the face and still can't see it. Very discouraging.

I often bogey the first hole while playing golf usually followed up with a par which is like a birdie since its par 3. I wouldn't say 3 tds between 14-17 points if Thunt plays 4 qtrs

I hope you're right.

I worry that with the way the defense played, Hunt wouldn't have had enough time to score three TDs.
