Noel with goodman

Nothing too much new, just said the atmosphere was crazy..said uconn was still in the mix, no mention of providence ...didnt make his list

If there's one thing about the youth of today which drives me insane, it's their lazy use of the word "crazy," due to the fact that their vocabularies are not large enough to convey what they truly mean. Every recruit that goes on a visit describes the arena or stadium atmosphere as "crazy." Clearly, I am a grizzled 35 year old grump.

You're broad-sweeping generalization regarding the vocabulary skills of today's youths is crazy.

That commentary was tremendous.

The Providence board is going to collectively cry over this news. There’s a 7 page thread talking about how it was between them and UK and now comes the news that they couldn’t even beat out some future also-rans in Georgetown and Florida to make the top 5.

Here's the deal with PC and Noel. This is gonna end the same way that our recruitment of Rob Gronkowski went back in the GROB days. Grob knew he wasn't getting him, but he was able to have have Gronk keep mentioning Syracuse as a favor. Cooley, knows he's not getting Nerlens, but as a favor to the PC program, Nerlens, a local kid, keeps mentioning them...giving them a bit of a buzz so they can attract higher level players. Everyone wins. The kid goes where he wants...the new coach gets a buzz around his program and maybe grabs a a recruit or two that he might not have gotten other wise. Alls good, except for the delusional PC fans. Cooley has the ear of some quality AAU programs and he'll improve PC's roster...but the top defensive player in the country isn't going to sign with PC. From today's news, it looks like Nerlens forgot to give PC the obligatory mention...until someone pointed it out and he tweeted it out of courtesy. He's keeping his end of the bargain...good for him...seems like a good kid.

Makes sense. Do you have any feel on where we stand against UK?

Excellent point. Probably the same thing with Seton Hall and Kyle Anderson if you were privy to all the behind the scenes stuff. Collateral damage is the fans who think they have a legitimate chance but it generates a buzz for the program/new coach.

Exactly. Its a very common practice...especially with new coaches.

While I'll agree that it is a long shot that Noel will end up at PC, I'd disagree that this is exclusively a publicity stunt to aid Cooley and the PC program. Sure it is a possibility. Kentucky and 'Cuse are the lead guys but there are a few things that PC can provide that no other programs can. Namely his ability to play in front of his family/friends.

You mentioned that he is a good kid, and he is. Part of that is his upbringing and the fact that he is very close with his family. I just wouldn't discount the effect something like that has on this individual player's recruitment, especially when he is a surefire lottery pick. PC has a puncher's chance, but a chance nonetheless.

How about our boy Brennan putting in a good word for the Syracuse atmosphere? It sounded from his statement that it was his first game ever at the dome which is sort of shocking. He sure seemed impressed. Maybe we can recruit him as a sweat mopper.

He's not going to Providence. Book it.

That's the ONLY thing PC provides. I agree with Jake.

Him, Dunn and Ledo would be an amazing first haul for Cooley though.
