JRHEETER you down here in Southern Tier? I live in Horseheads but went to Corning West. I haven’t watched him much but I was aware that he was a rare talent to come through the area.

Siena has a freshman, Isaiah Henderson, whom I would assume you guys are familiar with even though he played a couple years at prep school and at Corning Painted Post prior to that. Talent like this doesn't come around every day.

Yes, Henderson was a very good player for Corning before transferring out to prep. I think Proudfoot is a cut above in terms of caliber. Obviously, two different types of players/skillset.

Yes I live in Owego.

Wife teaches at UE and I follow their basketball team quite close.

I am friends with the coaching Staff for UE so we are at most games of their games.

Ive watched Nolyn play since he was a 7th grader on varsity...hes good for section 4 but he is not top end D1 caliber.
If we keep Red or fire Red and stay in house for our next coach, this guy and VanWagner should stay on our radar since we will not be getting any high ranked recruits or any top portal players.

Do you really think we would hire Engelstad or Allen Griffin as our next head coach?

As a Corning East grad I guess I’ll have to swing down to see my parents and catch a game and grab some Aniello’s. Definitely rare to see an individual player this good from that area.
I think you played baseball against my son who played for Corning west. He has to hit Aniellios every time he comes home too

JRHEETER how would you compare him to Bret Rumpel or Allan Eagles? Eagles ha an offer to Manhattan and will be prepping.

I think you can argue that Eagles and Proudfoot are similar level of talent.

Might even get a little bit of an edge to Proudfoot.

I’ll be shocked if Proudfoot does not prep. Seems to be the case with all of the local talent.

A lot of this is due to NYS rule that you can not reclassify once you’ve entered into HS.

Thanks- good stuff. Eagles is a great kid, polished, but definitely a 'tweener size wise. Patriot or Ivy would be great spots for him if he keeps developing.

I am sure that the late Kevin Stevens was glad to know that after a long drought there was some D-1 talent emerging from the tier. It was a long gap after Lazor, Gelatt, Foster et al. While mostly lower to mid-major, it's still great to see kids getting looks. I was around in the King Rice days- a nice time that saw STAC and Section 4 players go to UNC, Syracuse (and subsequent transfer destinations) and prior to him Kerins and Spera. Then King came along, and the MAAC schools grabbed Jimmy Ryder and Steve Downey. There was a lull in the action but nice to see it come back a little.

Eagles has an advantage being coached by Dempsey.

I mean having a former D1 Bball coach is huge. They are also running a higher level offense/defense than anyone else in the southern tier.

The whole Seton team is very polished. They have some young talent on their team as well.

Angelo O'Connor is an 8th grader who is their starting PG and will be VERY good.

He was on JV last season as a 7th grader at Union Endicott before a large scandal hit that bball team and his parents transferred him out to Seton Catholic.
