Can someone tell me, when a kid named Murphy proves he can kick a 50 yard field goal, why are we still going with Norton? How many missed field goals does the kid need to have before the coaching staff makes a change? Can I say - shaky potatoes?

That missed field goal at the end of the half could have changed the momentum in the 2nd half when our D got the stop. We would have only been down 2 scores...could have helped changed the midset in the 3rd quarter.

I'm a fan of being aggressive. But when it doesn't make sense to be aggressive, yes - a Division 1 kicker needs to do better than Norton. I hold my breath on all his kicks no matter the length.

I think it's time to give another kicker a chance......I'm gonna guess Norton kicks well in practice but tightens up to much in games to be effective. ...jmho

Norton is a good kid but you can't be a division 1 power 5 team kicker and miss a 25 yard field goal.

Give the job to the walk on next week. I doubt Norton would still be on the team if Marrone was the head coach after two alcohol related suspensions.

He's the one who got arrested and suspended.

Was

wae he the kid who got into with the cop on Marshall St.? If he is a trouble maker then I won't shed a tear if he is replaced with. Murphy.

There was another incident after that as well that led to his Spring suspension. I'm guessing if we had another option he wouldn't be here. I'm ready to give Murphy a chance before Hofrichter gets here.

Staff made a huge mistake not bringing in another kicker with the uncertainty around Krautmans' health

I'm assuming there is a good reason the staff has stuck with Norton instead of giving Murphy a chance.

I don't suppose Dixon has any kicking prowess?

As echoed by many others, cannot wait to get Hofrichter in house.

He's a good kid who is in and out of trouble with the law, the coaching staff and figuring out how to put pigskin between the posts, not the outside of them. ALL HE DOES IS KCIK FOR POINTS and he can't do that with ANY regularity. No faith any more.

Since Patrick Shaddle our kickers have been shaky potatoes outside of Krautman's FR year in 2010.

I don't think you can seriously make that decision based on 1 kick. Norton is clearly struggling, and maybe Murphy deserves a chance, but I'd like to know how each performs in practice.

Murphy should get a shot in my opinion. Norton has shown what he is capable of and has missed more FG's then this team needs. I was hopeful that his consistency would be improved this year but that hasn't been the case. Have to put the players that give you the best chance to win. Time to see what Murphy can do - worst case is to switch back to Norton and hope that Norton doesn't let a coaching decision effect his performance (if anything, it should motivate him).

To quote Iverson, "We talkin' 'bout practice!"

I don't care who looks like an All-American in practice. If you can't do it on game day then your arse should be on the bench.
