Wow, article basically says Rob Moore leaving Syracuse is good for SU recruiting. My initial thought when I heard Rob was leaving right after signing day was that the impressive haul of WR's must feel very disappointed. This article spins it that its good for SU in NYC recruiting.

Lets hope the next WR coach or whoever is assigned NYC has a better reputation with the NYC coaches. GO SU!

Brazilier is a clown. Just how many downstate kids did SU actually recruit this year? How many downstate kids went to a P5 school this year? A lot of the kids Marrone brought in, Syracuse was their only big time offer. I think it's clear as day those coaches need SU more then SU needs them.

We've done quite well with many of those downstate kids with no offers. In fact, our team is jam packed with them.

I think it'd be a good practice for us to maintain a very warm and mutually beneficial relationship with the NYC coaches...regardless of whether we are chasing down recruits.

Saying "they need us more than we need them" is extremely short-sighted.

But some of the coaches thinking we need them is short-sighted too.

We just signed a pretty impressive haul of WR's. I'd think Moore at least had something to do with it.

And who cares if they're from NYC or not?

Trust me I am not discounting that one bit. I realize just how many productive players on our roster are downstate kids. But with that said we didn't have a problem filling out this years recruiting class one bit. Meanwhile there were how many downstate kids that went to a P5 school? It's not short sighted, it's a fact. I believe what Moore said was 100% true. I really don't have a problem with him saying it. Hopefully it sent a message that if you want us to take a chance on some of your more questionable D1 prospects, you better be helping to steer the big guys to the in state school.

I'm tired of the idea we have to recruit NYC, we've gotten more players from Long Island, Southern Tier, Upstate through the years then great players from NYC. Rather recruit PA, NJ, New England, Mid Atlantic, Mid West, Georgia, Florida we get better players there. Too many coaches there have too much ego, let their players go elsewhere.

It wasn't any better for him in NJ.

Joke of an article.

Hey bud, the players you cited didn't come to SU because they think their shnit smells too sweet for a poor little place like Syracuse. Period. Coach Moore had nothing to do with it.

Free Rob Moore!

Doesn't make it any less true.

Braziller has had it out for Rob Moore ever since RM made those unflattering comments about NYC players.
This article is just another opportunity for Braziller to bitch and moan about Moore. And to misspell 'Terel' Hunt.

Too put it in perspective, we don't get the top nyc basketball recruit most years. Rob Moore spoke the truth and I guess the truth hurts.

Brazilier is really not very good at what he does. We didn't have a shot at any of the 4 guys he listed and it wasn't because of Rob Moore.

As an aside, Shafer in his press conference said he offered 7 New York (not nyc but ny) kids this year and only got 2. However, he did say something to the effect of if we had done better in New York City we would not have been in Georgia and I'm pretty sure he was talking about the defensive tackles. I'll have to go back and listen to the presser.

We only looked at 7 ny state kids total according to the coach

Summary of the article. SU lost recruits to Florida, Ohio State, and Notre Dame and somehow that is all on account of Rob Moore. LOL. Cuz before Moore, we won those battles?

Whether the downstate coach was out of line or not, you have to maintainn relationships with these guys. It's not a matter of who needs whom more. And of course, public comments should not be made about HS coaches unless they are flattering. Got to rebuild some relationships. The best way to do that is to get a guy in here who is already known and respected in that area.

The HS coaches have much less influence on where the top players go than average players. And with the average players its the coaches that have to do the selling to the schools.

I'm sure you're right. But my guess is a HS coach can negatively influence much more than positively influence. Best to play nice.

I think all of the receivers had better relationships with mcdonald but the icing on the cake was being coached by a former nfl all-pro. It is what it is for now. I am just concerned about mcdonald's workload. its one thing being the OC and coaching a room with 3-5 tight ends versus 8-10 receivers. I'm sure assistants will be there to help him, but it's still worth noting.

I just hope we bring in someone that can recruit.
