as much as i thought there were some really strange calls and some that were just plain stupid you have to factor in the lack of talent at key positions..

the oline struggled all day after hickey left to pass block and we seldom create back to back running plays
the main RB probably left 50 yds on the field because he is just too slow to turn a corner.
we dropped a TD twice
we missed a fg and an XP.
we threw a long TD chance out of bounds
we had a blantant hold cost us another td on a flea flicker
we had a fake FG that might have gone for a TD get stopped by a coach TO..

we stink at so many spots and yet had 30 pts in the bag.

and really we have a QB that probably gave us zero chance to make a catch on 10 passes today including one that could have been another TD.

yup.. i think he makes bad calls. i think most OC make a ton of bad calls, the ones with better talent get away with it. but people here think he makes bad calls 90% of the time.. we dont have a single solid talent on offense at any position and people expect him to work miracles..

Our QB is extremely inaccurate and Donald spent so much time in our backfield in the 2nd half, we should have included him in the huddle.

Bill Walsh could be calling the plays but if your QB can't throw and your Oline can't block, it ain't gonna matter.

Oh and we did nothing to neutralize Donald, nothing. Do we have 'roll out' in our playbook?

We can't generate drives cause we can't make third downs. And we have a lot of third downs cause we are so predictable with our first and second down calls. We put Hunt in ba d situations on third down and as a result hen looks worst than what I think he is

it was a horrible day play calling...big time

not to mention on the missed field goal when shafer waited until 21 seconds on the play clock to send in the unit and then loeb had Norton starring at the clock until 1-2 seconds left on the clock to snap the ball....snap the damn ball when the unit is set, which it was for about 6-7 seconds. Pressure for no reason.

plus fire that old man hicks...

I agree with the need for bootlegs/roll outs. Pitt did a nice job moving Donald around. They stunted him to the edge a few times and our tackles were obviously outmanned.

I'd like to see an offense that uses fewer formations so as not to telegraph points of attack.

Edit - we seem to run the same plays out of many different formations. One of the successes of Marrone's scheme was the ability to run many different plays out of a base formation.

I really questioned the passed that was tipped on 3rd and 1 in the 1st,thought we would run there, and the decision to kick to go up 6 instead of going for 2.What difference does it make to go up 6 or 5?

hunt cant hit the field when he rolls out..

True, but he's more likely to pick up positive yards w/ his feet on the perimeter than in the pocket after he inevitably tucks it to run.

Here's one of my main gripes. If Jerome is to slow to get to the corner - which he is - then why call a run to the corner with Jerome? I fail to understand why George Morris doesn't get those calls / carries.

On one of the plays I'm pretty sure it wasn't a run to the corner - our OLine just got blown up up the middle and Jerome had no choice but to go to the outside.

If Hickey plays the whole game I think this is a W going away.
