Not sure I understand the star ranking system

Coaches absolutely use it, to think they don't is extremely close minded. You don't think they're looking at these reports? I'm sorry, if JB goes to a game with a 5 star HS sophomore in it and he doesn't impress right away you're telling me he doesn't go an see him again? Coaches just don't go to every single HS basketball and look for a player, they use scouting reports among other resources to find players. It's asinine to think otherwise.
Simply my opinion, asinine or not. :noidea:

Development is all that counts. Look at Wes Johnson (3star) vs Paul Harris (5star) Yet look at how their game changed they ended up switching postions through college and they were drafted/almost drafted. Look at Southerland he was a pf for us, great shooter but just missing the isolation dribble or rebounding to be a small forward presence in the NBA. Rak played center for us but pf might be best for him in the nba.

Nowadays you find so many swingman. They don't know what position a player will end up at, but they pencil them in as a 4 star over a 6'4 true shooting guard who is only a 3 star. And the 6'4 shooting guard gets drafted top 15 as a jr, while the 4 star just misses as a late second round pick as a senior.

Unless you are a top ten five star which means you have supeior skills and athletic ability then it makes little difference. So many freshmen and sophmores leave early and would be so dominant if they stayed one more year.
