Not sure if Mr. Betsey was the parent that complained at the game, but

I’ve avoided this board since Wed night to let my boiling blood settle down. One thing I will say is that Zephyr played solid minutes in the last part of the first half. He played the role he needed to play and didn’t force anything. He brought the ball up, protected it, moved it, and played solid D on their guards. He did all the things that Nait should be doing directing traffic out there. I’m not going to say he needs more minutes because that’s not the way to go, but he played with poise when most of our guys have no idea what to do. Red’s offense is terrible and results in guys not knowing their roles and where they should be looking for their shots.

JB would have had these players ready for both BC and VaTech and would have countered Tech’s halftime adjustments on D.

I hope Wildhack is on the phone. I can’t watch this crap for another season.

EDIT: I meant to say first half.

Yeah god forbid he benches him when he air balls five foot floaters
The local media and I'm starting to think the coaching staff don't appear to understand what they have with this team. It's nitpicking on what has happened without reflection on why it happened. The solutions would make things worse like sitting George (I know he hasn't been as good as he should, but it's hard for a Point Guard to operate well when others are not buying in consistently on what they should be doing, guys need to move always). Alex Kline I think gets it based on the coaches show last night that I listened to this morning (who knows why Autry wasn't there), but you know he is not going to overstep his lane. Coaches need to establish with the team the roles on who the go to players are, the supplementary players, and the you are mainly out there to cause havoc via aggressive defense, rebounding, movement, passing, and knock down open shots. JJ should be supplementary, so if he is actively making mistakes you sit him. Your go to players need a much larger room for error. This is how I see the team should look:

Go to Players (Most important to less important)
Freeman
George
Kyle
Supplementary (Most important to less important)
Kingz
Betsey
JJ
You are out there to cause havoc via aggressive defense, rebounding, movement, passing, and knocking down open shots (Most important to less important)
White
Souare
Anthony
Zephir
Fennell

Everyone south of White shouldnt sniff the court. White should get 4 mins per game

Agreed, unless Syracuse is ahead big or is in serious foul trouble. Or multiple of the core 6 is beyond gassed, the lineup needs to shorten. I think Anthony is going to be good, but he is not a lottery pick in this years draft to demand to be a go to player and there is enough supplementary pieces that are better defensively right now. If he is not causing havoc when he is out there in substitution minutes via aggressive defense, rebounding, movement, passing, and knocking down open shots, he shouldn't be playing right now. Focus on getting stronger. The role that he wants he isn't good enough for yet and we don't need him to be that yet.

Wait. There was a coaches' show last night and Kline was on instead of Red?

Two things can be true at once. Yes the coaching and substitution patterns are inane.
On the other hand, the only reason we were ahead by as much as we were was due to unsustainable high variance three point shooting in our favor half one which as usual corrected itself half 2. let me know when we run an offense that results in efficient bucket getting.

Committed recruits would just leave with a coaching change anyway. SU will have to add 10 guys from the portal next season. Hopefully the new coach has 1 or 2 guys to bring with them. Rest will come down to money and relationships.
Good thing we don’t have any for 2026 then.

Substitution patterns are bad.

But a dad blasting out on social media that his son should start is worse.
I agree. That's junior high school stuff. And he really needs to take a look at his son's defense metrics
