Not taking the FG opening drive

That’s a stretch. We were up 21-7 and had numerous opportunities to put them away.
You never give up points especially knowing we have lost close ones to them

This thread just further proves that coaches are never right. There always something they should have did or could have did.

So - IF Dino hadn't called the TO to rethink kicking the FG, then Szmyt's miss from 48 would have stood.

And given that he DID miss (short!!), I had zero problem with Dino then deciding to go for it.
Beats the living snot outta punting from there.

Clemson D made a play and batted the pass down. It happens.
Doesn't make the decision incorrect.

Going for the FG might have been the right choice but doing so would have changed the game enough that it's unlikely the score would have been exactly the same, with a few minutes left in the game.

Agree. Even if he made the FG. 3 points in the first possession doesn’t decide who wins. There’s 50 minutes left of game time that determines the outcome of the game. Many more game swinging moments and situations.

kicking it while calling a timeout then overthinking it and going for it and not getting it is some classic Babers overthinking.

Like watching his face as 25 seconds tick off the clock, down 6 and then calling the timeout.

He needs to take a vacation the last 5 seconds before the snap. He might be overthinking things. Go with your gut and live with the results.

Are you new here?

Shouldnt u be on the Jaguars boards defending Cisco and the L??

Oh wait, only former QBs deserve your bandwagon fandom.

Did I say you could come back and post?

Has it been 10 years already?

Swish! Where you been?

I was saying to kick the FG at the time and I still stick by it. I just wanted some points and a lead (however small it was).

I'm confused. Do you think the kick was short because of the timeout? It looked like Dino and Szmyt's talked it over on the sideline, then decided to go for it on 4th.

He freezes up. Its not his strength

The biggest issue I had with that situation is that I knew, with 18 seconds left on the play clock, that we weren’t going to get it off in time and have to call a TO, or have a rushed kick.

I’m fine with the FG or going for it, but if you decide to kick, the kicker needs to have time.

Execution is my issue. Not either play call.

I assumed it was short because of the TO, and Szmyt pulled up on it. But if they discussed it and Andre said it was too far due to wind or whatever, then I understand the choice to go for it. I honestly did not see them talk, but wasn't paying attention to the tv during the TO.
