...of JB in this cabal's slate of coach of the year possibles. See article here.

Article after article appearing this season about how SU does not have the most talented players, how its player are sacrificing PT for the good of the team and for the wins, how its bench is being played down to the ninth man and ingeniously managed, but nary a mention of JB from these guys, Worse still, is that Calipari gets great consideration---he who has a stable of Mickey D'ers at his disposal...

Amazing...sheesh.

We should form a self-appointed panel of experts and post our own listing of candidates. What makes these guys think that their opinions are worth anything? Kinda like Lunardi.

I have no problem with them talking about guys like Haith, or Fisher, or Prohm. Those guys have coached their teams to levels far beyond expectation. But what possible justification is there to have Matta or Calipari and NOT mention JB? Those two teams had higher preseason expectations than we did. OSU, arguably, has performed below expectation, and UK has performed exactly as expected with all of that talent.

SU, meanwhile, was expected to be good, but not THIS good. So we have exceeded all expectations despite what some paint as deficiencies (not having a "dude"), and we have done so amidst absurd off court distractions. Yet no mention of the job Jimmy is doing?

Riiiiiight.

During G'town/UConn last night, Dick Vitale went on for probably a full minute about why Boeheim deserves to be national coach of the year this year.

JB was "coach of the year" two years ago. I doubt they would give it to someone twice within such a short span of time.

What's amazing about that, though, CTO, is that I think he's doing a better coaching job this year than he did with that team. That team, as far as I can tell, had virtually zero issues on or off the court. Not to take anything away from JB, but he really didn't have to do much to get them to play up to their potential (and exceed it).

This year, I think he's doing a much, much better coaching job than he did with that team, considering all they've faced off the court and the potential for drama with certain members of the team, along with the fact we've easily exceeded expectations. It'd be a little unfair for them to ignore him simply because he won recently. His award in 2010 doesn't take anything away from how well he's coached this year.

haith should never have gone to mizzou, dudes dirty left miami red handed and got handed a perfect situation. Boeheim needs to atleast be mentioned. A nice win streak with fab back over the toughest part of our sched will put him right back in the mix

thank Bernie Fine for that

Bingo. SU could go undefeated the rest of the way, win it all, have the most balanced scoring team in the history of college bball, and people will be very reluctant to give the nod to JB because of the extraneous BS.

The 2010 team was not ranked pre-season... and seemingly came out of nowhere. This team was ranked top 5 pre season. So it could be said they are performing as expected. (And voters in Utah or wherever know little, and care less, about our team's off-court drama).
