As a long time SU FB season ticket holder and lurker on this board, I first want to says thanks to all those who make this forum a success. I truly look forward to visiting/reading your posts every day.

Someone mentioned that Doug M. should back off, let his players have some fun, and give them all a hug. Well, I think some of us fans also need a hug, because I'm not having much fun watching a team that hasn't shown improvement in any single area of the game (i.e. offense, defense, special teams).

You can't blame it on injuries so I guess the burden falls on the shoulders of the coaches and players. Lack of effort, lack of talent, poor coaching? Probably some of each since the whole is truly made up by the sum of its parts.

I do cringe when SU's first possession more often than not consists two unsuccessful runs up the middle followed by a quick three and out. Where's the pass/run mix? Where's the surprise?

What I'm most disappointed about this year is the lack of productivity and consistency from an offense that returned 9 of the 11 starters from 2010: Grade D.

I didn't expect much from the defense due to the large number of new players. Grade C.

Special teams again are not very special: Grade C. Hiring a full-time STs coach should help.

I look forward to the day when the fun returns to watching SU football. (Hopefully I live long enough to see that day.) Hey, you never know, look at the Bills.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks, don't be such a lurker.

Good first post.

And I think regardless of the grade you assign, the point is that the team has played deficiently this season in all three phases of the game. That's disconcerting.

Not suggesting that I expected them to transform into a top 10 team, but coming off of last season, with lots of experienced players on offense returning, I expected that group to take a step forward. And while we were bound to take our lumps defensively after losing so many key players, I liked the raw materials we had on D--and expected that they would improve as the season progressed.

If anything, the defense--while inconsistent--has flashed solid performance and the future looks promising. The offense has flashed, but is so wildly inconsistent and seems to have regressed. ST has been a disaster.

Agreed. If the O had improved the way one would expect given what we brought back and if STs were atleast competent,we would have a season we would all be very happy with.Instead the bottom has fallen out in all 3 phases of the game.Disconcerting to say the least.

Hence the reason that priority #1 this off season is to GET A SPECIAL TEAMS COACH!! I will beg HCDM if I have to. God, do I miss those old special teams units of ours which at any time could (a) take a kick to the house, (b) block a punt/FG/XP. It seems to be the forgotten phase and its really surprising to me that HCDM would let is slide the way he has.

A full press Beg Cuseman Specials have cost us two games for sure this year and could have put us in position to beat South
